This half term we have explored the autumn leaves and trees through sensory, painting and learning. Lots of different colours and textures. The children have colour matched, picked their own leaves and made beautiful art work.

The children have been doing lots of learning using our bear counters. We’ve been following patterns and created our own in our maths learning.
Last week our crew walked to the school library to enjoy reading and exploring different types of books. There was so many to choose from!
This week the children practiced different fine motor skills in our sensory activities. The children cleaned all the mucky animals using sponges and scrubbing brushes. We also enjoyed scooping and digging our shapes out of the ’Gelli Baff’ and using different tools such as a masher and whisk.
This week in phonics we focused on letter formation and blending. The children were very engaged in our phonics learning while using cars and paint to form the letters. The children also used cars to consolidate their understanding around blending, whilst avoiding a parking ticket…
This week during maths we did the 5 green bottles activity. The children waited for their turn to pour the bottle away, whilst we focused on number recognition and counting backwards from 5-1. The children enjoyed making a big splash!
This week we focused on hygiene and oral health. The children learnt about the importance of brushing our teeth and keeping healthy. The children also worked on cooking skills and learning to crack an egg. Alongside this, we kept our focus around understanding why we should clean our hands before and after handling food.
This week in our crew’s cooking class we made our own pizza. The children got to choose from a range of toppings, or all of them, to add to their pizza. We used our cutting skills from previous weeks to chop the peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms. They smelt delicious!
This week we’ve been focusing on our number recognition and numicon. The children really enjoyed singing our 5 currant buns song and splatting the buns away one at a time. All the children waited patiently to take their turn at splatting. Great self-control while waiting- well done guys!
One of our favourite life skills is chopping fruit for our fruit salads, yummy!
The children focused on the different skills and techniques that are needed to chop soft and hard fruits. We used different hand motions when chopping a banana in comparison to chopping an apple.
Everyone participated and focused brilliantly. Amazing work!
For our story in expedition, we decided to make our own little pigs. We used pink icing with some marshmallows and googly eyes.
we enjoyed eating these as much as we did making them!
