Computing in Crew Boswell

This week we had lots of fun exploring how to insert sound clips using scratch. We recorded sounds and then coded these so that our sprites were saying or playing them. Some of us even challenged ourselves to put these in an order so that they played at different times.

The start of road safety week…

This morning we had a great crew discussion about road safety. We talked about how to keep ourselves safe when we are out and about especially about focussing on what can distract us and drivers. We also talked about what we needed to wear, where best to cross the road and explored the green code code. Finally, we played a game at the end to put into practise what we had learnt. Lots of us got 7/7!

TTRS battle in KS2

Our timestable rockstar day ended with quite the battle! Crews battled against each other to gather points in the hope their crew would make it to the final! There was great encouragement by all and it was lovely to see the improvements in our timestable knowledge! A big well done to everyone that took part 🙂 A big shout out to Crew Boswell who made it to the final! And to the 2 children who beat Mrs Ibbotson!

Book Talk 📚📖

Today was our second Book Talk lesson looking at the poem, ‘My Own True Family’, taken from the book ‘My Heart Was A Tree’ by Michael Morpurgo. We recapped the purpose, audience and genre at the beginning of the session and then moved on to delve deeper into the features and vocabulary that had been used.

What is love? 💕

Today, in Crew Boswell, during our RE lesson we began to think about what love really is. We began the session by looking at some popular quotes from the Bible such as, ‘love is patient, love is kind’ that often people share at Christian celebrations in churches such as weddings. These quotes really got us thinking about what love is, who we love, what love looks like, what difference loves makes to us, the community and the wider world, as well as what love isn’t. We shared our thoughts around love and recorded these ‘What love means to Crew Boswell’. We then each created a heart to show what we thought love was using drawings and writing.

RE in Crew Boswell

Today in RE, we learnt more about Jesus’ values and what impact they potentially have in the 21st Century. We discussed quotes and mission statements from Jesus and interpreted what we thought they meant. Some of the vocabulary was tricky but we worked as a crew to understand this. To finish we discussed our school mission and linked this to our HoWLs ‘Work Hard, Get Smart and Be Kind’ and discussed how we could make this world a better place.
