Our busy mathematician’s working hard to get smart. Well done!
Crew Shields – Maths Mania
It’s been a numbers kind of day in Crew Shields.
The children have took part in the TTRS Battle of the Bands with other schools. It is lovely seeing their confidence grow with their timetables.
Children had the opportunity to play maths board games with their peers. Not only could they consolidate their maths, they could build their crew relationships and communication. We even had some children support each other through the game rather than being competitive. Great Crew!
Have a lovely weekend Crew Shields 😀
Crew Shields – 1/2/22
Despite the long weekend, we have got straight back to our expedition learning.
Today, we’ve explored the parts of flowers and the life cycle of a flower.
Crew Shields – 1/2/22
Great team building activity to start our morning after the long weekend.
This was a great opportunity for children to develop their speaking and listening skills but also consolidate their maths knowledge.
Each child had a number on their head and they had to ask their peers questions about their number.
E.g – Is my number a 1, 2, 3 or 4 digit number? Is it a multiple? Is it odd? Etc.
Test 3
Crew Shields – 21/1/22
It’s been a busy week in Crew Shields as we continue to explore the guiding question, Why should we help our planet survive?
The crew have done lots of collaborative learning this week and it has been such a pleasure to see them learning from each other. They have learned about vertebrates and the features of the 5 categories. Can your child tell you the 5 animal groups?
The children have also been learning about the water cycle and the different stages. Children worked in mini-crews to research an area before sharing with their peers. It was great hearing children share their knowledge to help others learn.
We have started writing out Plot points for the Lorax and the children are becoming more confident with using cohesive devices. There were some great similes added to their description. They really do work hard in writing while developing their stamina for writing.
I would like to praise Crew Shields for setting their personalised pledges based on the feedback they’ve been given in class. This demonstrates great listening but also an eagerness to develop their learning and skills.
Have a lovely weekend and I will see you Monday.
Crew Shields – 8/11/21
Maths has been a brain teaser today as the children have been tackling worded problems. This has not only been practicing their maths knowledge but also their reading/comprehension.
It was lovely seeing the children working together and supporting each other. They were starting to pull their knowledge of mathematical language in to help them decide on the operation needed to solve the problem.
Crew Shields – 6/11/21
It was so lovely welcoming the children back to our new classroom. We have spent the week settling into our new classroom and ack into our routines and structures. I know I miss the routines during the holidays.
We started our next case study for our expedition and have enjoyed the opportunity of completing some science experiments. The children have learned the process of evaporation and condensation before exploring soluble and insoluble materials.
In writing, we have started our non chronological report which will be used for our final product. Despite the children finding this type of writing a bit tricky, they didn’t let this stop them. Their resilience was great and they worked hard.
We ended the week with our first Scotty’s Heroes session. The children had the opportunity to build A frame or lean to shelters. It was great seeing them work collaboratively and solve problems with their shelter.
Overall, a great first week back.
Hope everyone has had a safe Bonfire night.
Y5/6 Netball tournament
We have an exciting opportunity for 9 children from Year 5/6 to take part in Campsmount’s netball tournament. This event will be held on Wednesday 24th November in the afternoon. Letters will be handed out tomorrow. Any one interested will be asked to attend extra training sessions which will be outlined on the letter. If your son/daughter is interested in attending this tournament please can you make them aware that I will be coming around with letters in the morning.
Thank you Miss Marsh 🙂
UKS2 week 6 – This Week in our Phase
We have struggled for a few weeks to upload our videos, but finally we have cracked it (with a little help from Mr Wilson 😃)
