COVID CLOSURE: YEAR 5

Dear Parents and Carers,

As you are already aware, we are currently experiencing rapidly rising cases of Covid19 within our Year 5 cohort. You have already been asked to ensure that all children in Year 5 complete a PCR test and that you provide proof of your results to us to share with Public Health Doncaster.

Based on the number of results returning as positive for Covid19, Public Health Doncaster have advised that we close Year 5 one week early. The aim of this is to limit the spread of Covid19 across our school and wider community so that peoples’ Christmas plans are not impacted by the need to isolate on Christmas Day.

To confirm, Year 5 will not return to school next week and will complete learning from home next week.

Staff in school will be spending this afternoon and Monday morning preparing learning activities which will be shared on Google Classroom for those who have devices and delivered to home addresses for those who do not have a device or access to the internet. These activities will be based on what they would have been completing in school and consolidation tasks based on their learning this term.

For those families who are eligible for free school meals, school will be in touch to organise a lunch each day for those not in school. This will likely be in the form of the online vouchers that parents received during the half-term and summer holidays.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and understanding.

Stay safe everyone.

Yours faithfully,

James Tucker

Acting Headteacher

Crew MI Art

Crew MI have been working hard on their art skills, particularly their sketching techniques. Children have now produced their final sketch of the Flying Scotsman which are all fantastic. We are incredibly proud of how children showed such resilience and really thought about attention to detail. Here are a few examples!

Crew MI visit Danum Museum

Such a great day for Crew MI and everyone in Year 5!

Today we walked to Adwick train station and travelled on the train to Doncaster. We then walked to Danum Museum where we took part in an active, hands on workshop which linked to our expedition learning. Children really proved how much they had learnt during this expedition and showed some great collaborative working in all activities. Children’s behaviour was incredible and our howl scores at the end of the day reflected this.

Crew MI 25.11.21

Wow! What a day it has been in crew MI. We have been extremely busy with our non-chronological report writing. We have made sure we have been using fantastic sentence openers, conjunctions to extend our sentences and tricky punctuation- even trying to include colons and semi colons. We then have then been very busy typing up our writing for our final expedition product… more on this later!

Just a reminder that it is non uniform tomorrow and the children will be watching a performance of sleeping beauty. Please can you log on to parent pay to pay  the £1. Have a great evening.

Crew MI

Crew MI have carried on with their non chronological reports today and are really thinking about their sentence structure. We are trying hard to use a relative clause, brackets and dashes. Our confidence is starting to improve and we are producing some great writing.

We have also worked hard in our maths lesson today where we have looked at line graphs. We did find this challenging however we really thought about what the question was asking us and managed to solve the problems!
