Today in Mastering Number, Crew Ramsay got busy making odd numbers on a tens frame. We learned that odd numbers can be made by making an even number and adding an odd ‘1’. We call these ‘Odd Tops’.

Character Traits
Crew Haddock looked at the new character traits today. The children took part in a discussion about who they look up to and why? We talked about how we demonstrate courage in and out of school, plus this is something we are focusing on this term. We took part in some activities by trying something new with our eyes closed.
Wonderful Writing
We Stop, we look, we listen
This week crew Frost have been focusing on road safety. The children practiced using playground track, taking turns to stop, look, and listen before crossing. What a great way to build up our role play skills! We also created pictures of a lollipop lady and talked about her important role in helping people cross safely. In addition, we learned about traffic lights and zebra crossings, discussing what each color and symbol means. Well done crew Frost. We can’t wait to see you use such important skills.
Snow day
Today crew Frost have timed it perfectly in our phonic session by planning and executing another environmental walk. During this phonics session nursery focused on the weather by marking marks on their boards for what they could see and the way the weather felt. When we came back we practiced our Fredding skills by asking questions such as was it h-o-t? Then we used our think, pair, share protocol to discuss the meanings to the marks we had made for our outside adventure. The children loved the snow! Well done for another successful phonics session Crew Frost.

In Crew Ramsay, we have been learning about the police for our 3rd Case Study. We have started by learning who the police are presently before we move onto learning about police in the past. We had so much fun acting out different scenarios where the police help us and our town! Here we are being heroes….
Getting Smart With Our Pledges!
In Crew Ramsay, we have been fulfilling our pledges in writing by accessing our ‘Support Station’ for the scaffolding we need. We all know what our areas for development are and what resources can support us whilst we become great. We even go and collect them before we start writing. Here we are, supporting ourselves to become our best! Check us out popping to the Support Station to collect our bits!

Crew Ramsay headed down to crew Barber to narrate our very own character-driven narratives to a real audience! We took so much pride in our work and loved performing as storytellers. Here we are in action…
Marks in our environment.
Crew Frost have loved being outside this week so much that we decided to make it bright and colorful with our mark making skills. The children have loved making lines, circles, and various shapes such as circles and hearts! We have shown great control keeping within the brick lines and using our imagination to create figures like our grown ups or our pets we care about.
Scissor skills
This week in crew Frost the children have been learning how to use scissors. The children first discussed how to use the scissors safety and what items we cut. We then practiced how we hold the scissors for moving around the classroom and when we are ready to cut. We then challenged the children to follow the patterned lines on the sheets. The children astonished us how they were able to maneuver their way around the task following the patterned sheets. We can’t wait to keep practicing this fine motor task.
