This week we’ve been focusing on our number recognition and numicon. The children really enjoyed singing our 5 currant buns song and splatting the buns away one at a time. All the children waited patiently to take their turn at splatting. Great self-control while waiting- well done guys!
This week, Crew Hamill have made a start on Case Study 3 – Art. In our first lesson, we have explored our focus artist of Henry Moore who is famous for being commissioned to produce charcoal drawings of coal miners. We then had a go at experimenting with the medium of charcoal ourselves using different techniques, seeing what effects we could create. Some of us even attempted to draw with it!
On Friday 11th July, the XP Festival of Arts and Culture returns to XP Doncaster, bringing together students, families, staff and artists for a joyful celebration of creativity and community.
Throughout the day, you’ll experience live music, powerful performances, vibrant art installations, and the beautiful work that defines XP. Students from every XP Trust school will be contributing, sharing their talents and passions through exhibitions, dance, storytelling, and more – all designed to connect, inspire and make a difference.
The festival is a key moment in our XP Live programme – a growing Trust-wide initiative that gives young people authentic opportunities to produce, perform and create. It builds on our commitment to purposeful learning and supports our belief that every child can do meaningful, creative work that impacts the wider world.
More details on the line-up will be shared soon – we can’t wait to welcome you.
One of our favourite life skills is chopping fruit for our fruit salads, yummy! The children focused on the different skills and techniques that are needed to chop soft and hard fruits. We used different hand motions when chopping a banana in comparison to chopping an apple. Everyone participated and focused brilliantly. Amazing work!
Our children have been embracing the great outdoors as part of their Crew sessions, working collaboratively and building trust through a range of team challenges and activities. It’s been wonderful to see the children supporting each other, stepping out of their comfort zones, and showing real Crew spirit in action!
Our children have been proudly working with Doncaster Council and Asda’s Community Champions to help make a difference in our local area. Equipped with litter pickers, high-vis vests, and lots of enthusiasm, they took to the streets to help tidy up and learn about the importance of looking after our environment.
This hands-on project not only supported our learning about citizenship and sustainability, but also showed how small actions can make a big impact. Well done to all the children involved – you’ve made our school and community proud!
