For our story in expedition, we decided to make our own little pigs. We used pink icing with some marshmallows and googly eyes.
we enjoyed eating these as much as we did making them!

Last half term the children focused on spreading and cutting different textures of food. We made jam sandwiches, fairy bread, fruit cutting and to link in with our expedition book, ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’, the children made bear faces with rice cakes. All the children enjoyed the new flavours.

On Tuesday, Crew McGlone welcomed illustrator Liz Million to our school to support us with drawing skills that we can use within our final product creation – a bookmark including children’s drawings of traditional tales characters.
Liz talked to us about her job as an illustrator, told us lots of stories from her childhood and how she decided she wanted to become an illustrator. She then began to show us many examples of artwork she could create just by simply using lots of different shapes. She showed us how easy it was to create the wolf, Little Red Riding Hood and Grandma’s cat, before then doing a step-by-step draw along to create a troll from Billy Goats Gruff!
We listened so well to each of Liz’s instructions and our final pieces were absolutely fantastic! We cannot wait to put our new skills intro practise when we come to do our final product illustrations. Thank you SO much Liz for coming in and working with us, we are very lucky! We will be sending you a bookmark to showcase our fantastic drawings!

Following on from our staff crew building activity, we thought the children in Crew Marsh would enjoy it too. They have now added their own masterpieces to make a beautiful collaborative piece of art work. A lovely activity outside painting, drawing and colouring real life flowers under the lovely sunshine! What a gorgeous way to celebrate Spring and Crew!

The children have been using their creative skills in expedition. Using fine motor movements and discussing the features of plants, to create water colour paintings with a range of lines and shapes that will be used within the community. Well done F2.

After reading the anywhere garden story we decided to make our very own, using play dough as a base for our gardens, the children used their fine motor, creative, and friendship skills to create many different versions.

To continue our crew building this week, Crew McGlone have worked really hard as a crew to create a piece of artwork. We discussed how it would take 1 person a really long time to decorate the large piece of paper on their own, but if we all helped as a crew to do a little section each then it would be done much quicker. We split the paper into sections and got to work! If a section was finished, we offered to help other members of our crew with their section – continuing to work as a unit to finish our final piece. We really like our finished piece and praise how section comes together to create a lovely pattern.
We had so much fun creating our Christmas cards for our grown ups!
We’ve had lots of fun celebrating Children in Need 2024 in Crew McGlone.
Crew McGlone have spent time over the last week discussing why it is important for us to think about those people who helped and continue to help to keep our country safe, and thank them for everything they do. We created fork paintings of poppies that Miss McGlone put together into a wreath for our whole school Remembrance Day display.
We then also made our own poppies using apples and carrots to print with inside a laminating pouch. Once they were dry, they were put through the laminator and we have put them on our classroom windows.
