In our expedition lesson today we had the chance to dissect a lambs heart, which allowed us to develop our understanding of the circulatory system even further! We loved it! I am so proud of how the children put themselves out of their comfort zone for this great learning opportunity. Crew Mcloughlin should be so proud; first aid trained and now had the experience of dissecting a heart. We have definitely got budding health care professionals in the making! 🤩
To help with our expedition learning ‘How can a healthy lifestyle impact our body and mind?‘ we have participated in mini first aid training today! 🤩 What an amazing skill to have!
We took part in some basic first aid training today. We practised skills such as putting an unresponsive casualty into the recovery position; how to assess a casualty using DR ABC; and even how to safely perform abdominal thrusts (or the Heimlich manoeuvre) to dislodge something blocking the airway.
After a super busy SATs week last week, we have now started catching up with our expedition ‘How can a healthy lifestyle impact your body and mind?’ hook week. Here are some pieces of artwork we are proud of. Every single piece is beautiful but here are just a few!
In DT we did a blind food tasting session and had a go at tasting food we had never tasted before! Our reactions to certain food were a picture! We then challenged ourselves to a game of ready steady cook and were given 3 ingredients to create a simple dish. We made some sugar cookies and discussed why they are unhealthy.
We have completed our last test of the week and we are beaming with pride! The children did not give up once, showed resilience and determination throughout this week. We couldn’t be any prouder🤩 Now we cannot wait for our party tomorrow to celebrate 🎉
Thank you for your kind words and the cornettos Miss Laing 😁
To celebrate the hard work of our Y6’s this week, we are hosting a party on Friday. We would be grateful if children could bring a £1 contribution towards food and drinks and children can also come in non-uniform.
Thank you,
Mrs Fox and Miss McLoughlin
Our SLCs this week have been such a wonderful experience to be part of – all the children have been beaming since presenting to their parents. In crew this morning all the children that had their SLC yesterday said they felt really happy because their parents said they were proud and loved hearing about their learning 🥰 I am so proud too with how you had the confidence despite being nervous and how well you articulated yourselves. Amazing, Crew Mcloughlin!
Make sure you get a well deserved rest this weekend ready to show off your hard work for next week.
