We have been working really hard on our addition and subtraction written methods. What great positive attitudes we had today 🙂

We have been working really hard on our addition and subtraction written methods. What great positive attitudes we had today 🙂
Today we started our science case study where we started to classify plants and animals based on characteristics. We thought about what makes something living and non living then looked at MRS GREN. We then worked in mini crews to sort a variety of living things into groups. We all found lots of different ways which we shared with the whole crew. We then watched a video clip to help us think more about classifying plants, animals and microorganisms. We then had a go at creating our own classification key in mini crews. Some great discussions today MI 🙂
The work hard howl was really shown today in our magic maths session 🙂 Children really tried hard when they were challenged but all still ensured they had a positive attitude.
What a start to the day! This really challenged our thinking and encouraged some really effective communication skills and team working skills. Well done Crew MI 🙂
In RE, we looked at what generosity and greed look like today. We watched a video which told the story of the widow’s offering where a widow gave all that she had to the church. We discussed this act of generosity and thought of other ways we could show generosity and kindness.
Today we thought about deforestation, what it is and the different causes. We watched a variety of clips to help us to understand further. We also looked at some of the reasons why people don’t want to stop deforestation. After having some great discussions on this, we took part in a role play activity. There were a variety of roles given out including loggers, pharmacists, conservationists, cattle farmers and fast food restaurant owners. We each tried to get into role and think about why we were in favour or against deforestation.
Crew MI have been working so hard on their class lap book. It is now really starting to come together and we will continue to add to it as we move through case study 1. It is a great anchor chart for us to refer to 🙂
We continued our grammar work today where we looked at the conjunctions and but because. We did lots of chotting and shared writing before having a go at our own sentences. We will continue to practice these conjunctions 🙂
Thinking about what family means to us all 🙂
Today we learnt about the different biomes around the world and talked about why we thought deserts, rainforests and tundras were in those places. Next, we sorted out which animals might live in the different biomes and why. Finally we discussed the importance of having different biomes for the plants and animals to survive in.
