We have been super busy in our maths lesson today 🙂 We have consolidated many areas! We looked at our timestables, fractions, pictograms and some arithmetic based questions. Great positive attitudes by all this morning 🙂
Arithmetic in MI :)
We continue to work on gaps from our arithmetic tests 🙂 What a fantastic lesson we had today!
Comparing and ordering angles in MI
Today we recapped angles from our lesson on Friday. We used our arms to make the 3 different types of angles we had learnt. We explained how we know if an angle is acute, obtuse or a right angle. We then applied our learning to some different questions, using our partners for support. From here we started to compare angles using the symbols < > = We named the angle first then used the correct symbol to compare. We then applied our learning to lollipop sticks and practised making and comparing angles with these. Next we looked at comparing 3 or more angles and then ordered them from smallest to the biggest. We applied our knowledge to a variety of questions then practised a little more with our lollipop sticks.
Making angles 🟪🟠
In maths this week, we have been learning about angles and turns. Today, we learnt the terms acute, right and obtuse to describe angles and created our own.
Pancake making in Crew MI🥞
Before half term, we had been learning about mass and capacity and what better way to apply what we had learnt than making pancakes! Carefully, we worked in groups to measure out the ingredients accurately. Finally, we added on our toppings of choice and then we got to eat them- delicious 😋
Telling time…
In magic maths, we have been looking at how to tell the time. We had a quick recap before having a go ourselves.
Fractions with bagels…
In maths, we used bagels to help us understand how to partition a mixed number. Some of us found this quite difficult but after Miss Shields demonstrate we feel a bit more confident with it. We’ll do some more fluency style questions tomorrow to ensure we can apply this knowledge.
Finding 1 more in maths
Today in maths, we were exploring finding 1 more. We chose a number from the spinner, made it and found 1 more! We were really confident in making the number and then showing what 1 more would be using our tens frames and counters.
MI start their shape unit
Today we looked at clockwise and anti clockwise, exploring turns. We looked at a quarter turn, a half turn, a three quarter turn and a full turn. We enjoyed exploring the turns with our own bodies 🙂 We then applied our learning to some written questions.
Arithmetic in MI
A fantastic arithmetic session today, working on a variety of different questions.
