Experiencing the Victorian era
Presentation of Learning – Autumn expedition
We showcased our beautiful work and everything that we had achieved to our family and friends in a presentation of learning. On display were our repurposed frames, which had our art work and monologues alongside. We read our emotive monologues out loud and protested to save our planet. Hopefully, we made the audience reflect on how they could help our planet survive.
Young Voices 2024! 🎵🎤✨
Yet another fabulous year performing at Sheffield Arena as part of Young Voices 2024!
French – Crew Hamill, Crew Thompson and Crew Mcloughlin 🇫🇷🖼🎄
We have used our French knowledge of shape, colour and size to complete a number of different activities to help to embed our learning.
Colour splat – Who can splat the correct colour in the fastest time?
Listen carefully – Who can identify the correct colour and hold up the corresponding block? Can you listen to the sequence and create the matching tower?
Shape matching – Who can identify the correct shape AND the correct colour? Can you work as a team to be the quickest team to do this correctly?
Christmas craft – Using the shapes and colours we have looked at, can you create a Christmas image? Could you describe the shapes you used to create your image in French?
Watch out… It’s snowing math problems!
A fun maths session had by all! The teachers may have enjoyed it as much as the children…
Our first 40/40!
In our final arithmetic assessment of the term we finally had our first 40/40! We have so many children now in the 30s and close to also achieving 40. Y6 keep smashing it and making us proud!
UKS2 carol concert
What a lovely morning it was singing Christmas songs with our peers to our parents, carers and loved ones. We really enjoyed our carol concert and came back into crews in such high spirits. Thank you to everyone that joined us this morning and well done to everyone in year 5 and 6 for their great efforts. We are all now feeling very festive 🙂
Predicting our reading for the week 📚
During book talk, we were given some clues to infer from. We had a silent conversation to explore what we thought about the clues given. Clue number one was a photo of a clip board with the writing ‘Loteria de Navidad’. Many of us knew the word ‘Navidad’ meant ‘Christmas’ in Spanish but we are unsure how this links with the other photo clues. Tomorrow, we will find out more about the reading for this week… the children are intrigued to learn more!
Identifying formal and informal language
This morning, Crew Mc have learned the difference between formal and informal language. We worked in pairs to match the similar sentences together – We understand that these sentences mean the same but can be written differently (formally or informally).
