In RE, we discussed the story of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and the guest. We discussed what was important about the story and what a sacrifice was. Then, we renacted the story in small groups including the key people and scenarios.
Safari dance
In our dance lesson today we created a crew safari dance, we looked out for the different animals that we might see when going on safari and how they might look and move. We are getting so good at counting to 8 in our head so we are all time!
It’s all about the view…
Today we finished our book of “Our Tower” the children met a man in the tree who gifted them a stone with a hole in it, the stone gave them a different view of the world. Once leaving the magical inside of the tree the children decided to use this to view their city. This now looked completely different through their viewpoint – the once grey and dull city no longer looked dull and boring but now looked fun with people having picnics and playing, the sun was shining and everyone was having fun.
It left us thinking that if you change your view on something it might not be as bad as it seems.
Computing – debugging and decomposition
In computing today, we have looked at decomposition and how we break up a job into smaller achievable steps.
We then looked at debugging, this is where we look at if the algorithm has a problem and reason why it does not work and then re write the algorithm. We used a map to do this.
Exploring in the tree
In today’s experience lesson we explored inside the tree, we swung on ropes, hopped on spots and crawled under leaves. We loved this new purple magical world!
Fractions
In Y1 this week we have been learning about fractions – we looked at half and now we are looking at quarter. Today on our gallery walk we could show and explain which shape was cut into a quarter and which wasn’t. We could also explain why!
Fab writing in Y1
I am so proud of our writing from today, well done year 1! Keep it up!
Coastal, rural, city or town?
In today’s geography lesson we learnt what key features make the different types of places.
Coastal – it has a beach.
Rural – in the middle of nowhere.
Town/village – it has houses, shops and hotels.
City – it has a lot of buildings and they are tall like skyscrapers.
Celebrating St George’s day!
We loved learning all about St George and how he fought a dragon. This afternoon we enjoyed our St George’s quest and completed a range of activities.
The luminous magical tree
Today in our experience lesson we followed the singing into the woods to find the tree which was singing. We found the leaves were swirling and dancing to a magical, luminous green, old tree. We thought it looked different to the city we had just travelled from. We made some beautiful artwork to showcase what we had seen.
