Reflecting on all the work we have done this week on mental health. We came up with different words for mental health.

In crew this week we have being looking at mental health. Today the children looked at food and had to take the time to appreciate each bite. They had some fruit and had to think about how it looked, taste, feel, hear, see an smell. so we used our senses to find these out

Today I was absolutely blown away by the beautiful work Crew Godley produced in writing. We wrote our second plot point of our story, All Afloat Noah’s Boat. Noah was getting soaked by the rain and had to usher all the animals onto the boat, it wasn’t an easy task!

Today we continued with our collage skills to create our Art work in the style of Henri Matisse, we created animals which Noah invited onto his ark. We thought carefully about the colours and shape of the materials we used to create some beautiful pieces! We were very proud!

This week in maths we have been exploring arrays to support us with our multiplication and division, it was a little tricky but with some perseverance we finally cracked it! We worked hard to use what we already know to support our learning, our practical resource came in very handy to solve some problems.

This week we have been artists, exploring the collage techniques of a Henri Matisse, a French artist.
Firstly, we had a gallery walk and shared our notices and wonders about his work. We collected ideas and created a giraffe in preparation for our final piece where we will collage different animals to place in Noah’s Ark! We thought carefully about how how we could manipulate materials to create shapes.

Today in our experience lesson we went into the ark 2 by 2!
Check out our fabulous video!!
Today we kickstarted our mental week off exploring what our mental health is and how we can support it. Oliver had some fantastic ideas and said a good diet, good sleep and exercise would help keep our minds healthy. We thought about things we grateful for that help us feel happy.
– Lily-Ann said her sister and family made her her safe and happy.
– Thomas said his dad made him fell happy when he plays with him.
– Charlie said he feels better when he’s goes on his exercise bike!
– Eileen-Ann said she feels happy when she does yoga.
We enjoyed some mindful yoga to wake up our minds after a busy weekend.

Crew Haddock really enjoyed their cojo crew challenge.

For today’s RE lesson we looked at a story called, ‘The Monkey King’. A story told by Buddhists about how to show care to others. We learnt how initially the Monkey King was selfish and didn’t want to share his mangoes with the other monkeys because they tasted too good! But then when the Human King caught one and wanted more and was willing to kill the monkey tribe for them, the Monkey King knew he had to make a sacrifice! He quickly used his body as a bridge and let the other monkeys climb over him to get across the river to safety. The Human King saw this kind action and recused the Monkey King for being so kind and let all of the other monkeys live. They then all shared the tropical fruit together. We all learnt a lot from this story, especially how to be kind to others and why being kind and caring is so important. We thought about questions that we might ask the Monkey King such as, why did you decide to help your tribe? Did your feet hurt? Did you think you were going to die? etc. We also thought about the different characters feelings at different points in the story. At the end of the lesson we shared some of the sacrifices that we have made for others.
