Advice for Child to Self-Isolate for 10 Days

Dear Parents / Carers,

As you are aware, at the request of the Department for Education (DFE), we have introduced Lateral Flow Testing of staff to keep everybody in our school as safe as possible.

Unfortunately, a staff member has had a positive result following the use of a Lateral Flow Test and will therefore now take a PCR test to confirm this as a positive case of Covid-19.  Until the result is received and in accordance with DFE guidance, any child who has close contact with the affected staff member must isolate immediately.

Your child has been identified as having had close contact with the member of staff and will therefore need to isolate until the PCR results are returned.

Should the result of the PCR test of the staff member return as a negative result then your child will be able to return to school if they have been accessing in-school learning.  We will inform you of any changes via text and email.

Should the result of the PCR test of the staff member return as a positive your child will need to continue their isolation until the 10 days have finished.

Please note that other members of your household can continue normal activities provided your child does not develop symptoms within the 10 day self-isolation period.

We are asking you to do this to reduce the further spread of COVID 19 to others in the community and to support the NHS.

It is unfortunate that we are unable to have Crew Elmer in school until further notice.

Furthermore, their class teachers will be available to support with online learning.  We would like children to check-in everyday as part of our safeguarding procedures.  Children should be familiar with this process however should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.

Stay safe.

Yours sincerely

Feel Good Friday! 🙌

I think that a lot of crew members were very relieved that it was Friday today and that they would be getting a few days rest! I for one am also very thankful that it is Friday as this week has been very exhausting! 💤

Star moment of the day:

This has got to be our Reading lesson today. With only 8 of us in school today it meant that everyone got a chance to read out loud, which is a skill that we have been focusing lots on! I was also super impressed with how well the children had remembered the different lenses that we had been looking at this week and their ability to apply this knowledge to help them to answer a range of questions involving all of these lenses! Great work Crew Elmer! 😁👏⭐👍🙌

Todays HoWL average is: 2.5

A disappointing but understandable score. We had several crew members not in school today or online and this meant that they received 1’s for their HoWLs which sadly brought our overall score down! ☹ Hopefully we will have everyone back on Monday! 🤞

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this next week?

We need to make sure that as many children as possible are either online or in class.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Frankie! Frankie has had a great day today! She has been working incredibly hard all day and produced some great pieces of work, especially in Reading and Expedition! Excellent stuff Frankie! Well done! 👏⭐🤩🙌

Crew Wilson Weekly Review: 29/1/21

We’ve had such a fantastic week in Crew Wilson, but how is it the end of another week and nearly the end of the month already?!

Highlight of the week:

We have been developing our understanding of working together as a crew, being kind and looking out for each other this week, and I feel that we have made good progress! We celebrated our success with a Cojo challenge this afternoon that was all about team work and listening skills, each child had a specific role in the game and they worked together brilliantly under a time limit! Hopefully now they’ve had a good practice we will be able to beat Crew Welburn’s time the next time we do it!

Howl Heroes

🟥Work Hard:  Mia and Dalton for their hard work, concentration and brilliant effort in phonics today, well done!

🟦Get Smart: A double-whammy for Dalton today as he was also nominated for Get Smart by the crew for his great listening skills, superstar!

🟩Be Kind: Another crew nomination went to Daisy for her kindness and empathy towards her friends when they are sad or feeling lonely, well done!

Howl Average:

Our score has been a bit up and down this week but I am proud to say we’ve finished Friday with our highest score of the week – 3.7!

Well done Crew Wilson, another fab week of learning completed, enjoy your weekend everyone 👨🏻‍🏫

Daily Blog Crew Godley 29.01.2021

We have been super busy today in F2 perfecting our handwriting! The children worked incredibly hard in RWI followed by a handwriting session to perfect our letter formation ✍🏾

The children really enjoyed observing a rocket 🚀  launching into space 🌍  it was very exciting! We then discussed what we would like to take in our rocket, lots of children said they would like to take their families and friends which demonstrates to me that the children really value the importance of crew! We then used our phonics skills to write down who and what we would like to take to the moon. I was so impressed by the children’s independence, especially SJ who wrote some really tricky words! Keep up the great work everyone!

HoWL heroes today are:

Being Kind – I would like to praise several children for always setting a fantastic example to our crew, they are:

Kyla

Evelynn

Teddy

Noah

These children always, always show green standard, they work hard on the carpet, always have their listening ears on and show that they are ready to learn. You are little superstars!

Friday✅

Today, we switched things up a bit in our crew time, and we carried out a challenge! We had to work as a crew to complete an obstacle course. Miss Welburn was very impressed with our communication and with how well we worked as a team. We made sure everyone was involved and had a job to do, and as a result, we won the challenge! 🌟

HOWL Heroes:

Work hard: Heartley 👏

Get smart: Frankie 👏

Be kind: Harrylee 👏

HOWL Score: 3.1. We worked really hard as a crew today, well done! 🌟

Staff Lateral Flow Testing

Dear Parents/Carers,

The Department for Education has recently announced that it will start a programme of asymptomatic Covid-19 testing in primary schools, school-based nurseries and maintained nursery schools. Our school has now taken delivery of these tests.

The testing of staff will start next week. The tests will take place twice weekly (usually Sunday Morning and Wednesday evening) at home. This will give us some time to inform you of bubble closures as soon as we can.  This form of testing will hopefully minimise the chance of asymptomatic staff attending school and being in a class.

If a staff member tests positive following testing using a Lateral Flow Test, they will need to have this confirmed by taking a PCR test (taken at a test centre) with results normally available within 48 hours, or sooner. The safety of our school community is paramount, should a member of staff have a positive Lateral Flow test, we will take the following action:

  • The class bubble will temporarily close immediately
  • The staff member will have a PCR test
  • The member of staff has a negative PCR test – the bubble will reopen the next day
  • The member of staff has a positive PCR test – the bubble will remain closed with members of that bubble isolating for 10 days

We are pleased that this is happening for our staff, as we want to make our school a safe place for everyone. This does however, mean that more bubbles may close at short notice and we ask that you continue to work with us and support us in trying to keep everyone as safe as we possibly can during these difficult times.

Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time.

Stay safe.

Yours sincerely
