Today we have learnt which animals live in Antarctica and which animals live in the arctic circle. We found out that penguins live in Antarctica and the bottom of the world and polar bears live in the Arctic at the top of the world. We organised other animals like reindeers, killer whales and elk’s and seals.
Where is penguin from?🐧
After visiting the park and having no hope there finding out where penguin was from, the little boy decided to ask his duck in his bath…. annoyingly the duck had no idea either! He floated off with no explanation!
Cheerleading club in action!
Algorithms – precise and concise
In our computing lesson today we have looked at algorithms in more depth and looked at why the instruction needs to be precise so that everyone does the same and follows it the same.
We learnt that editing an algorithm is called a bug.
Writing in MI
Today we used our chotting and shared write from last week to help us to write the appearance section of our non chronological report. We used our target grids well today, trying to include varied conjunctions and different openers. This afternoon we started chotting for the next section, a tigers habitat. We all took part in a shared write, trying hard to make positive contributions.
Budding Georges Seurat artists!
We have learnt about Georges Seurat this week and how he painted his artwork using pointillism. We then practised this on our own lizard.
Cheerleading club
We are all so excited that we have not got a cheerleading club running at lunchtimes. We cannot wait to see your routines!
PP3 – the surge of water 💧
In writing today, we wrote PP3 which was all about the surge of water breaking through the ice dam. We picked up the pace needed in this writing lesson and used shorter sentences for the effect. We used lots of features such as expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and even managed to use a simile! 😀 What a fantastic writing lesson! We can’t wait to write PP4 on Monday!
Exploring Georges Seurat 🖼️🎨👨🎨
Today we were artists and found out about the French post-impressionist artist Georges Seurat.
Seurat used pointillism to create his artwork. After a gallery walk and a critique session we had a go at using the pointillist techniques.
Book Talk 📖
In our book talk lessons this week, we have looked at a different page in our book “Guardians of the planet”. We have read the text, unpicked key vocabulary which we didn’t understand and asked questions about what we had read. We have learnt lots about renewable energy and wind energy whilst adding lots of key vocabulary to our glossary.
