What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?
We started this lesson by discussing the importance Shahdah which forms one of the five pillars of Islam. We then discussed the five pillars of Islam in detail and the differences between them. After that, we discussed our own values and beliefs. Finally, we read the story of Bilal and considered what mattered to him.
Crew Haigh enjoyed a day trip to the beach exploring the concepts of our expedition in real life terms, building sandcastles, splashing in the waves and eating SANDwiches – extra sandy!
A great day had by all.
After recapping our learning from yesterday, we moved onto looking at the first half of the clock and using past. We are all really enjoying our work on time and are getting more confident every day 🙂
In computing today, we have looked at decomposition and how we break up a job into smaller achievable steps.
We then looked at debugging, this is where we look at if the algorithm has a problem and reason why it does not work and then re write the algorithm. We used a map to do this.
In today’s experience lesson we explored inside the tree, we swung on ropes, hopped on spots and crawled under leaves. We loved this new purple magical world!
Role play, painting and baking fun in Crew Haigh
What a way to end a fantastic hook week! This afternoon, we took part in our very own ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ and followed a recipe to make cookies.
While they were baking, we then started to discuss what a healthy diet was and what the different food types were. Next, came the blind tasting…which got mixed reviews. It was great to try different foods and lots of us found something that we liked that we had not tasted before. Overall, a great end to a great week!
We have finished our hook week creating a map of Carcroft using David Hockney artwork.
After starting to look at the Mayan timeline in History, we learned about the different masks that were worn by this civilisation. We learned that some masks were worn for celebrations, battle and even in death. Then we had an opportunity to design and create our own masks using known Maya masks as a template.
