For our reading entry ticket, we had to imagine we were the main character of our book. We had to think of what we had read in the previous 4 chapters and generate two truth and a lie about his experience so far. We then shared with someone in the room to find our lie. This activity really showed how great our comprehension skills are!

This morning in crew we had the pleasure of viewing the art work of Kaylum and we have decided that children will have more opportunities to share their interests with us.
Kaylum is a budding artist and often brings in stuff for our tabletop display. He has brought in his sketchbook from home today and we are truly blown away. I’m sure you will as well.

We have set Kaylum a challenge – Can he create us a sign for our door that says Crew Shields surrounded by images that reminds him of people in the crew. Watch this space…
Well done to Leo, Leon, Thomas and Lily~Ann who have all read twice this week already at home and have had their reading record books signed.
I wonder if we can have more children being rewarded this week?

Today, in Crew Marsh we started our new book.. Man on the Moon.
We acted out the first part of the story where Bob wakes up, makes his toast and cup of tea and then gets ready to go to work on his rocket.
I can’t wait to read the writing tomorrow!

Today in maths we were looking at position and direction. The children stood either in front, behind, to the side, on top or underneath the tyres when given the instruction. We then ended the lesson by making numerals out of the natural objects on the field. Miss Holdsworth was very impressed at some of the high numbers…especially for the first day back after half term! Great work everyone, keep it up!
The children loved sharing their expedition learning and sharing what they have learnt so far when answering the guiding question: where could your journey take you?
The children were most excited about sharing their hunt for the kings crown and where they had looked around London. 👑
It was lovely to have parents in to share our learning journey so far, and we cannot wait to share our next case study about space.

Today, some of our Year 3 and Year 4 children have took part in a cricket tournament. The children showed how well Carcroft School work as a team, and were cheering others on throughout the day. Their crew building and communication skills really shone through today! They got better and better as the day went on and we are sure they will be experts when they have finished doing cricket in PE!

Friday 26th May will be a non uniform day with a £1.00 voluntary contribution.
All contributions will go towards our school fund pot which covers the cost of lots of things such as our HoWLs rewards, including the inflatable, attendance rewards, theatre productions, bouncy castle rewards and other things such as McDonalds, Y6 SATs breakfast and much more.
We thank you in advance for any contributions and will continue to use any funds raised during fundraising to provide fun and memorable experiences for the children of Carcroft.
