This week in cook stars we made cherry, coconut and chocolate bake. We are loving trying and making new recipes each week! 😋
We started to discuss our families in crew time this morning. First of all, we played a game of swap where we had to move places with others in the circle if we shared something the same. This included brothers, sisters and pets! We were then given different pictures that were cut up, we had to build the pictures thinking about what we could see and what was the same and different. From here we started to think about our own family, we drew them, described them and added words to describe their characters. We then shared our creations with our partners and then the whole crew. Our debrief involved us thinking about our role as a member of our crew. We discussed our ideas well and related lots of our discussions to our howls. A great start to the day in MI 🙂
We have loved basketball club today!
Crew Godley had a fantastic time with Mick developing our crew building skills. We had to listen, collaborate and show resilience. It was tricky at times but we worked together to achieve the end goals.
Today we have learnt how to be safe around fire. The main thing we learnt and practised was being able to stop, drop and roll if any items of clothing caught fire.
Today we discussed the attributes that make a good team. We thought about any teams we admire then thought about the attributes of these teams. ‘Together everyone achieves more’ We thought about what this means in a variety of situations. We discussed any good teams we already know and what actually makes a good team. From here we thought about our crew and how we are also a small team. We worked in mini crews to discuss which attributes make a good team and what we need to be part of crew MI. We then shared these with the whole crew. Some great discussions MI 🙂
Today we tested our listening, team work and problem solving skills! MI took part in an obstacle course where they worked in pairs. One team member completed the obstacle course whilst their partner gave them verbal instructions. There was however one catch, the person completing the course was wearing a blind fold! MI what a great job you did 🙂
Carcroft have loved having our cooking club in today, everyone loved making their Welshrarebit muffins. I loved seeing everyone working as a team and helping each other. Well done!
KS1 strengthened their crews last week by having a real focus on Crew, what does it mean to us and the wider community. Our guiding questions were, ‘How does what I do, impact others?’ and ‘Does crew stop at the school gates?’. With this in mind you’ll have noticed in our blogs last week that we delivered books and kindness stones to the local community to show kindness and care. Well…….. we were so excited to see that some of these have been found and brought joy to other children outside of our school community. The children were so excited to see this in morning crew today 😊
Year 5 and 6 had a great trip to Langsett Reservoir to begin to establish a strong crew where the children can be themselves and develop their teamwork skills in a caring and safe environment. We worked together to answer our crew guiding question was ‘How can we get everyone to the top of the mountain?‘ The answer was simple… work together, support one another, enjoy exploring, share the load and plenty of chocolate biscuits. We had a fantastic day (even the sun came out) and it was a pleasure to see the children enjoying themselves and truly becoming a crew that we know that will go from strength to strength as the year progresses… watch this space. Well done everyone!
