Building on yesterdays learning, today we have learnt how to tell the time to the nearest half past. Again, we were fab at it!

In maths today we learned how to tell the time to the nearest hour, I was blown away with how quickly the children could tell the time and show me it on their clocks. Super work today Crew Marsh, tomorrow we go again with half past!
The children have been exploring in the outdoor area to find materials, working as a mini crew to create numerals from 0-10. It was such a fun maths lesson, we didn’t want to come inside!
“This was the best maths lesson ever, I wish we had 2 maths lessons today” – Harrison
Crew MI did the arithmetic carousel where they worked in pairs going round the tables working out the answer and the comparing them.
In maths, we ordered and remembered the days of the week.
Crew Godley have been working hard to get smart in maths, looking at measures this week. We’ve measured everything from a paper clip to Mr T’s smelly shoes 👞 It’s been great fun and our estimating skills have improved trying to guess how many cubes tall everything is🚪
Before moving into Y2 we have been practising our counting to 100. We have been able to work as a crew to order the numbers 50 to 100.
We have been looking at what doubles are, and what happens to a number when you double it. We took our learning outside this week and had a ‘Doubles Hunt’! We each had to take a piece of numicon out of the mystery bag before searching the playground for the matching image. Once we had found it, we had to count what double the original number was. Even though we all had a piece, we worked well with our peers and showed fantastic team-work by helping each other find the correct image and then helping to count to find double that number. Excellent work Crew Welburn!
Crew Marsh loved practising their 10 timetables in maths.
We are still working really hard in Crew MI to make sure that we are prepared for secondary school in September. This morning, we played with the timestable cards because we know it is really important we confident with these. After that, we played a fraction game where we had to roll a dice to generate fractions and then decide where to put them so we could add or subtract them to get the biggest numbers. Finally, we played Countdown numbers game. This was great fun!
