We hreally enjoyed our attendance treat yesterday of nun and juice. This was awarded for receiving 99% attendance for last week. Well done everyone. Keep coming to school and we’ll be able to enjoy this more often.

In arithmetic, we have been learning about exchanging and how we need to exchange a ten for 10 ones when we don’t have enough to subtract. Children were encouraged to draw the tens and ones above their number so they could see what was happening when they exchange.
This afternoon, we helped to keep our environment tidy by litter picking around the school grounds. It was disappointing to see so much rubbish around the grounds but also large pieces that have been thrown over such as a broken electric scooter and a Christmas tree.
Due to use having no community meeting this week, we took the opportunity to have a mindfulness crew session instead. This was such a lovely activity where we listened to instrumental music and used our pencil/pen to outline a splatter of paint. You could have heard a pin drop in our classroom yesterday morning. Definitely something we’ll be doing again.
In Crew challenge this week, we had to work together as a small crew to keep the balloon from touching the floor. We realised very quickly that we needed to use small taps and try to hit it straight up. Some great team work.
In grammar this week, we have been learning about regular verbs and how they change based on whether they are in the past, present or future tense. E.g. The dog barked = past tense, The dog barks = present tense, The dog will bark = future tense.
Children worked in pairs to decide whether a sentence was the last, present or future tense.
It was such a pleasure to have Lily-Ann offer to read her book to the Crew today. She read with such a confident voice and demonstrated good sounding and blending when she came across a word she wasn’t sure of. Great work.
Today in grammar, we have been learning about the ‘to have’ verb. We learned that the ‘to have’ verb shows when you own something or hold something.
Has is used when talking about 1 noun.
Have is used for more than one as well as with you and I.
Had is used to show the past tense.
In reading, we continued exploring The Lion and The Unicorn. In this lesson, we took on the role of Lenny and acted out when he ran away. They scampered through the raspberry brushes, weaved through the trees, went through a hole in the hedge and ran through the night.
In maths, we continued our work on number lines. On this occasion, we had some missing number and had to estimate what the number was but also ensuring they were in order.
