Caring crew in MI

Today we discussed friendships and what friendship means to us. We talked about what makes a good friend and how we make sure we are a good friend to others. We then took part in a task where we had to communicate with others in the crew, finding someone else who likes doing certain things e.g someone who likes dogs, someone who likes pizza. We enjoyed learning more about each other and talking to each other a little more. We then thought more about how we are all good friends and what we do to show this daily.

History case study reflection in MI

Wow, wow, wow, Crew MI you blew me away this afternoon with the knowledge you showcased on our two history case studies. We thought about our guiding question ‘How does war change lives?’ and answered it through a mind map. We unpicked all the areas that related to our guiding question, we explored what we could remember about those areas and how they answer the guiding question. Children we so engaged and could talk about everything we had looked at throughout the two case studies. We have thoroughly enjoyed our history case studies 🙂

Anne Frank in MI

We have really enjoyed learning about Anne Frank in our expeditionary learning this week. We learnt about Nazi persecution on Jewish people and all about the Holocaust. We have all been so engaged in this subject area this week with so many questions raised. We were all very mature in our approach to this subject and really showcased our best selves.

Recycling crew in MI

This week is recycling week! We discussed the term recycling in our mini crews and gave some examples of what we recycle. We then took part in a recycling quiz which we all enjoyed! There was some great collaborative working with some great discussions of answers together.

Single-clause sentences in MI

Today we continued our work on single-clause sentences which we are now getting really confident with. We also looked at the ‘leftovers’ thinking about which clause they belong to. We used counters and different coloured pens to show the different clauses and worked in mini crews to check our ideas. Super impressed MI 🙂

Maths in MI

Our do now allowed us to consolidate our learning on roman numerals, we are all getting really confident with these 🙂 The activate part of the lesson really got us thinking. ‘The answer is 100’ What could the question be? There were some great collaborative working on this and some great questions were generated. Well done MI 🙂

Book talk in MI

We really loved the activate part of our reading lesson today, an inference activity. We read a short passage and discussed the questions in mini crews. I was blown away with some of the ideas the children came up with! We then moved onto another non fiction extract on evacuation. We used lots of our expeditionary learning when discussing the text further. There was some great skimming and scanning of the text today to find answers during our reasons to read. I was particularly impressed with the questions children were asking and how engaged they were. Our exit ticket really showed children’s improved confidence with skimming and scanning.

Applying our knowledge of women’s roles

Today we built on the knowledge we had gained on women’s roles during WW2 and applied this to a short piece of writing. We thought about what life was like for women before the war and why the opportunities of women were different to men. We then wrote about how the experiences of women changed when WW2 broke out and why this changed happened. From he we thought about how women’s lives then changed after the war and peoples attitudes towards women. This was a great exit ticket helping us reflect on our learning.
