Our experience lesson today was totally bananas!
We are exploring the book Handa’s Surprise and in the story fruit is taken out of her basket as she walks to her friends house. A cheeky monkey swings down from a tree and steals a yellow banana without Handa knowing. Once we had made out bananas we walked around school balancing them on our heads. We were on the lookout for monkeys but luckily we didn’t spot any this time!

Crew Godley continued with their maths units, time, today, recognising and ordering the days of the week. We were super smart with this and confidently ordered, discussed and problem solved too! We loved singing the days of the weeks song 🎶

In today’s geography lesson we compared different places in the Uk with places in Africa, we looked at Zanzibar, Madagascar and Johannesburg. We were very good at looking at the similarities and differences with Beeley, London and Skegness. We compared the human and physical features whilst noticing many different things.
We noticed Madagascar and Beeley were similar because they both had trees and grass but Madagascar did not have any buildings. We also noticed that the shape of the trees different and we couldn’t not see any roads in Madagascar.

It was lovely to see some of the beautiful work that is taking place across school. These children shared their beautiful work with their peers and offered some lovely praises to one another. Well done everyone 🙂

This week, we looked at ways in which we can get along with others. We discussed that sometimes people may feel sad or angry but that there are ways in which we can help those people, or ourselves, to regulate. We spent some time getting mindful, taking deep breaths to focus ourselves, as well as repeating positive affirmations.

As part of our RSE curriculum this week, we were discussing the ways we can manage our emotions if we become dysregulated. We practiced some breathing exercises as well as a short yoga video aimed at helping us relax and relieve anxiety.
Crew Godley have begun their new maths unit this week, Time. To begin with with delved into the language – before, first, next, after, then and finally! We ordered sequences of events and used sentences to articulate ours and other actions. We were very confident and carried out lots of activities to consolidate our knowledge.

Today KS1 had lots of special visitors. Lucan from Reptile Rendezvous brought in lots of different animals for us to learn about and we were even luck enough to hold and feed them too!
