Our learn its in magic maths this week are learning directions and positions.
LKS2 produced some really beautiful work, as they created storyboards for their next piece of writing. It was great to see their imagination and what fantastic vocabulary they could use to help them with their future writing lessons.
We’d also like to say a massive well done and praise the pride the children have put into their work this week, especially in writing! 😃
Just to confirm that Crew Gerrard have non-uniform tomorrow. Crew Flaherty and Crew Marsh will be wearing uniform.
Today in LKS2, we have been completing our Experience Day. Together, we worked in small groups to provide key information about the first three chapters of our new book ‘Running on the Roof of the World’. The children were read to and then shared summaries of their chapter, which will help us with our writing over the next few weeks! Check out the photos below!
Crew Marsh PE/maths lesson
In PE today, in smaller crews we had to use our PE skills and timetable skills to match the clue with the answer.
The winning team was: Chase, Reece, Shiloh, Alicia, Georgie, Ruby S, Jack, Kaleb and Keaton.
Maths Week!
Today, we have been working on our maths. We started the session by recapping shapes in Magic Maths. This tested our knowledge on equal sided shapes, name shapes and how many we could see in a picture!
Then we worked on multiplication. We recapped the language, such as repeated addition, groups of and multiplied by so that we felt comfortable with returning to multiplication, before we take the next step. This is really important and we were super stars with it today, during our practical lesson! Check out some images below:
Conversation Club (8.11.21)
Yesterday, Year 3 and 4 were very lucky to be able to talk to the Conversation Club. The Conversation Club help refugees settle into the country, after escaping their home for fear of being unsafe. LKS2 were interested in hearing about their journey over and how long it will take them to settle into life. This was really important to understand that Coming to Doncaster was not always a positive thing, but offers a chance of hope. Check out our pictures of what happened during this interesting chat!
TWITP LKS2 (5.11.21)
It’s been a busy first week back after half term and two weeks of rest. We’ve been getting stuck into our new writing, continued to work on our reading fluency and been Historians as our research of the Vikings came to an end. We then began thinking about refugees, as we have an exciting visitor coming in on Monday, to discuss his experience as part of the Conversation Club.
Have a fantastic and safe weekend, Crew LKS2 – enjoy the fireworks! 😆
Crew Marsh – 5/11/21
What a busy first week back, which has started with Halloween and ended with Bonfire Night 🎆🎇
We have made a start on our newspaper articles this week about what is happening in Afghanistan regarding the Taliban and understanding how this is effecting people who live there. We have also recapped our math learning for addition and subtraction and made sure that we can complete the column method for both securely. Because we have worked so hard in maths this week lots of us have been able to access reasoning and problem solving questions, which is great!
Our HoWLs this week have not been as secure as previous weeks, we have at times found it hard to make sure that we are listening and stopping straight away. I know as a crew this is something we can improve on next week as we have spoken about it a lot in our crew sessions.
Have a lovely weekend, enjoy Bonfire night and stay safe! ☺
