BBK – Animals in danger

This morning we’re researching animals that are in danger to build our background knowledge. We are focusing on fluency skills to really ensure we understand what we are reading. I praise how some children are rereading our text to double check we are understanding what we are reading.

Now we understand a little more about animals in danger, we are creating our own BBK poster.

Crew challenge!

Who can get the tallest, free standing tower? 👏🏼

We had to work together in mini crews and use our knowledge of mass and length in order to balance and create our own freestanding tower.⚖️📏 This was tricky… and even trickier with a 3 minute timer on the countdown! 📟

Our winning crew tower measured 54cm! 😃

Building background knowledge

Today we have used Jess French’s brilliant book ‘Forests’ to understand some more information on deforestation, helping us answer our guiding question!

Testing magnets (21.2.22)

Year 3 tested magnets on different materials to see whether they were magnetic or not. We then discussed why we thought the materials were magnetic and the forces at work, such as attracting which is a pull force.

Happy half term!

Happy half term! Today we began our independence writing linking to The Lorax. We have spent lots of time planning our writing and creating chunks of sense to apply into our own paragraphs. We used our rubrics to remind us of Y6 expectation too. 🤩

Some of us received a lovely treat from Miss Gilliland this morning – pancakes and a cup of tea! This was a thank you from Miss Gilliland for keeping secure HOWLS whilst I am not in class teaching. Well done guys 🤩

This half term we have achieved quite a few HOWL score 3s. We know that we are improving and our focus and determination is getting stronger. Next half term is going to be a good one!
