Today in Citizenship crew we continued looking at our rights and the rights of others. We discovered that showing respect for others is really important, to ensure everyone feels safe and cared for. We looked at different scenarios and sorted them into two groups, those that showed respect and those that didn’t. We had some really interesting discussions and Oliver again blew us away with his knowledge and understating of social norms.
Experience day – Fun at the park 🛝
We have started our new text today, Lost and Found. The boy unexpectedly found a penguin on his doorstep 🐧 They little boy was confused as to who it belonged to and in order to find out where he had come from they visited lots of places. His first stop was the park. He saw lots of noisy children and chirping birds who ignored the little boys plea for help.
Scottie’s Heroes 🦸♀️
Today was a very challenging session, we had to really use our listening skills to guide our peers around the obstacle course. We had to show we were resilient as at times it was very tricky to direct each other. We were so proud how all the children worked together and listened carefully to instructions. Great crew work, Crew Godley!
What is a mosque?
This afternoon, Y2 explored videos and reading to understand what what we would find inside a mosque. We labelled the different areas of a mosque and learned what each area was for.
Our exit ticket was to discuss, ‘Why might it be helpful for Muslims to meet and spend time together?’
George said, ‘People won’t be lonely because they will be with friends. They could also teach each other how to pray.’
Alissa said, ‘They could meet new people.’
Harry said, ‘Their God would want people to be together and to be happy.’

Polar Bear Experience at YWP 🐻❄️
Today we were very lucky to be able to have a video call live for the Project Polar at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. We were able to ask lots of questions and found out lots of information about the polar bears who live in Doncaster. We found out their skin is black and their fur is see through, they like to eat lots and meat and they enjoy playing with lots of different toys. A huge thank you to Alex who made sure we saw the polar bears swimming, walking and snoozing!
George Seurat 🖼️ 👩🎨
Today we were artists and found out about the French post-impressionist artist Georges Seurat.
Seurat used pointillism to create his artwork. After a gallery walk and a critique session we had a go at using the pointillist techniques. We decided that this was one of our favourite technique with the effects we created and critiqued our first piece. We then used the critique to create another draft.
Miss Burge also shared that she was a magnificent artist at school and drew her Dad using pointillism. We were blown away by her portrait. This inspired us to try even harder, to get smart.
Challenge Crew ⭕️
Today we had a really tricky crew challenge! We were in two teams and the clock was ticking ⏰ we raced against each we other to untangle ourselves, during this challenge we developed our communication skills and problem solving skills, collaborating to untangle our very messy arms!
Things that make us happy 😊
Today we explored the term ‘loneliness’ and how we can support ourselves when we may be feeling a little lonely. We had some really meaningful discussions around the vocab ‘alone’, which was our word of the day and ‘lonely’ comparing how some people like to have some alone time and how this is different to feeling lonely. Here are the things that we like to do to ensure we don’t feel lonely.
Leo loves a family games night and Thomas loves to go out for his tea with his family 😊
