Crew Godley and a few other children from Crew March and Crew Robson wanted to do bug hunting to see if any bugs came out in the lovely weather we have this week. Here is a few pictures of what they have found
Keeping ourselves and our bodies healthy 🛁🧼🧽🚿🪥
Today we explored what it means to ’keep clean’. We had some fantastic discussions around how often our crew brush their teeth and have a bath or take a shower. We discovered some interesting facts 🦠 and finished off our crew discussion with a good old game of bingo!
Super Sewers
A discussion in Crew Godley led to a revelation that some of the children had never sewn before 🧵🪡 We decided that this important life skill would be something really exciting to add to our labs this week. The crew have had great fun practicing how to thread and hold a needle. Jax has also found a new talent, not only is he a super artist but also a great sewer too!
We are geographers!
This week we have been exploring the UK weather, looking at the landmarks significant to King Charles III.
Crew Challenge
Can you create a raft from natural materials and make it float?
We collaborated beautifully to create rafts from twigs and string, we had to use our fine motor skills and clear speaking skills to ensure we achieved our final product.
We are geographers 🌏🌍🌎
Today we explored human and physical features of the UK, we looked at landmarks significant to King Charles III and compared the features. Leon’s knowledge was fantastic and he was able to clearly articulate which aspects were human or physical features. Zach also explained physical features were formed by nature, sometimes humans couldn’t control nature and disasters occurred creating new physical features such as an undersea volcano.
Coronation Coins
We have been working hard this afternoon to develop our own commemorative, coronation coins. We had some fantastic ideas about what we should include, including the King 🤴 a crown 👑 a lion 🦁or a flag 🇬🇧
Celebrating the Coronation in Crew Godley
We used so many skills to create memorabilia for the Kings Coronation 👑 including maths skills to create symmetrical patterns . A big praise to Charlie and Thomas for completing their British Values home learning, it was lovely to see them talk about their creations with Crew.
We have had a lovely week celebrating everything great about Britain 🥳 Finished off today with our Coronation Picnic 🧺
Homework in KS1
It is very important that children in KS1 are reading to a grown up at least 4 times a week an having this recorded in their reading record books.
Children in year one and those children in year two who still do RWI should also be practicing their sounds ready for the phonics screening in a few weeks.
Thanks
KS1 team.
Magic Mathematicians
Crew Godley have been working hard in magic maths on one more and less, whilst also perfecting their number recognition and formation. We’ve worked so hard to ensure we are really listening to the quick fire questions. It was lovely to see the children collaborate and check each others understanding 🔢
