Holiday Pattern for 2021/2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are aware, we are joining the XP Trust very soon- we are hoping this will be no later than the 1st June 2021.

When we consulted with parents back in the Autumn, we had shared that we would follow the Doncaster Holiday pattern for 2021/2022. However, since then, the XP Trust have adapted their calendar and the two are now very much aligned.

Now that this is the case, I’m writing to parents to propose that we align our calendar in the new academic year rather than waiting for another year.

However, you will notice that one of the differences with the calendar is that the XP Trust have 10 staff days (INSET days) opposed to the Local Authorities 5 days. These staff days would be an opportunity for our staff to work with staff from the other XP Schools. One of the ways in which the days would be utilised would be to allow staff to work collaboratively in order to plan even better expeditions. Expeditions take a considerable amount of time to plan so the additional 5 days have been welcomed from our staff team who are working hard to provide a high quality curriculum within the time given. In addition, all trust CPD will also take place on these days, and again, CPS would love to be a part of this from the start if possible. I hope that parents can see why having the additional 5 days to work with the trust would be a fabulous opportunity for us as a school in 2021/2022.

I’ve attached the XP calendar, along with the Doncaster one. Hopefully, you’ll see that the two are very similar so hopefully this won’t cause too much of an inconvenience for parents. However, if this calendar change would effect you, please let me know by completing the Google Form as this will help me to make a decision as to when to switch calendars- 2021/2022 or 2022/2023.

Please could any feedback be provided by Monday 12th April so that we can then finalise our calendar for 2021/2022 and share this with parents and carers. Please find link attached below along with the calendars.

Crew Gerrard (26/03/21)

What a super Friday to end our Spring term! Today, we finished our final assessment. I saw lots of determined faces during the test, which was great to see. Then we finished our plot point for our persuasive writing. I am happy to say that the challenge of increasing our pace was met – it was much better Crew Gerrard! Our HoWL Heroes are:

Work Hard: Kian for improving his handwriting during our English session – you concentrated so hard! 😁

Get Smart: Jolie for a superb plot point that was full of persuasive language! 😃

Be Kind: Skyler for helping out myself and Mrs Gilliland all day! 😄

Our HoWL average for today was 3.1 and was 2.9 for the week overall!

Have a lovely break Crew Gerrard and lets hope for a more settled summer term! 😆

Wizard of Oz- Book Day- Wednesday 14th April

Dear Parent/Carers,

After the Easter Break, on the first Wednesday back (the 14th April), we have our very first ‘Covid Safe’ version of the Wizard of Oz production coming to CPS!

M&M Productions usually visit our school for World Book Day each year and this year is no different.. it’s just a little later than usual. It will also look a little bit different, as they have reduced the cast size, whilst keeping it just as exciting and engaging!

In order to really enhance the children’s learning experience that week, we are going to use the text/video of the Wizard of Oz as a stimulus to drive our learning for that week.

In addition, we would like our families at home to get involved over the Easter Break too. So, what would we like you to do?

We would love for the children to come into school on Wednesday 14th April in Wizard of Oz dress up! This can be anything Wizard of Oz related…. So it’s time to get exploring over the holiday and thinking of a plan. As long as the children can explain their costume choices, anything goes!

We are then going to ask the children within each crew to vote for their favourite costume attempt and will be asking them to explain why …

There will be prizes for every pupil who comes along in costume on that day and in addition, there will be an overall crew prize for the crew winner!

We can’t wait to see what the children come up with!

Have a fabulous break everyone; It’s extremely well deserved. I can’t wait to see everyone back with us after the break- it’s been a very strange week.

Thank you again for all your support.

See you all on Monday 12th April.

Have a lovely Easter everyone, all the children deserve a well earned rest after the hard work they have put in this term!! Well done superstars!

Crew Marsh: 26/03/21

WOW! I cannot believe that we have reached the end of Spring term! It definitely has not come without its challenges but as a Crew we have achieved a lot since Christmas. Have a well earned rest and a lovely Easter break and I cannot wait to see all your smiley faces in two weeks time! 😁🌼🐰

Star moment

Star moment today was spending time as a crew together, it has been lovely that we have been able to spend the day in each others company without the pressures of learning.

Average is: 3.6!

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh’s target for tomorrow is to make sure that they are putting their hands up if they need something, we are starting to get out of our seats again far too much.

Crew Wilson Weekly Review: 26.3.2021

What a bizarre and quiet week we have had in Crew Wilson! Whilst Crew Welburn have been isolating, we have been in school working very hard! We have completed maths assessments, independent writing and have even got a head start on our final product in expedition!

We have also enjoyed having extra space in the playground, have collaborated brilliantly on different activities and have made the most of the sunshine that we have had this week!

Howl Heroes:

The whole crew are our Howl Heroes today – they have worked so hard since returning for this term, and even with the challenges we have faced they have been so resilient and focussed on their learning.

The progress we have made across all of our subjects has been phenomenal, and when I look back at our first pieces of work from September I am blown away and so proud of how far we have come as a Crew!

Howl Average:

We have ended the week on a 3.4! This week we have had less reminders than usual for working hard, getting smart and being kind, so we are really growing together as a Crew and it is wonderful to see.

Crew Wilson have definitely earned their break from school over half term, so please keep safe, be kind to each other and get plenty of rest (I plan on sleeping for a week!)

See you all in two weeks!

Crew Thiede 26.3.21

It’s Easter in Crew today!

We have had a lovely day celebrating Easter 🐣 We had yummy hot cross buns for breakfast this morning, lots of children tried something new and loved it!

Then we went and rolled eggs! Despite getting getting bit soggy in the rain we had a great time! Make sure you watch This Week in the Phase to see how much fun we had!

Easter bunny popped up at the window and hid eggs outside so this afternoon we went on an Easter egg hunt!

Such a lovely day of Crew time and we have lots of lovely memories! The children have worked so hard this term and deserve a good rest so that they can continue to work hard, get smart and be kind next half term!

Todays HOWL hero is Thomas! He has had such a wonderful day and is showing how he is getting smart by starting to use full sentences when he speaks!

Crew Welburn’s Daily Blog 26.3.2021

We had a slightly sad morning crew session on Google Meet today in Crew Welburn…We had to say goodbye to two members of our crew 😔 Although we are really sad to see both Bronwyn and Nathan go, we know that they are going to be amazing in their new schools, and they are going to make so many new friends! Although we couldn’t do what we would normally do when we have to say goodbye to someone in our crew, we still wanted their last day to be special, so we put together some videos to help them think of all of the amazing memories they have made since September. Take a look at what we put together…🎬📽

Good luck Bronwyn and Nathan, we’ll really miss you both 🥰
