Crew Boswell – 11.12.20

Wow!  I was so tired last night that when I got in, I curled up on the sofa with my teddy and fell fast asleep.

Let me tell you about the best day of my life…yet.  I had my first day at school!!

It started the same as any other Friday, my hooman needed waking up so I gave him the usual licks.  He took me for an extra-long walk, which I thought was strange but I wasn’t complaining!  Especially because I had a large breakfast afterwards.  When he went to leave, he let me go with him.  Very strange.

We got to a place that I’d never been before and went inside.  It was really big.  There were plenty of smells to explore and I was very excited even if I didn’t know where I was going.  When we got inside, I had to explore.  I ran the length of the corridors to check that I knew what was around until my hooman told me to stop.  I knew he couldn’t catch me but he cheated and used the safety rope that I usually use to make sure he keeps up with me.

We went upstairs where my hooman had set up my den and I was excited that it looked like I was going to spend the day with him!

You’ll never guess what happened next!  So many little hoomans came in and I was let out to say hello to them all.  I picked up my trusty teddy (he’s called Midas) because I sometimes feel nervous when meeting new people and went to say hello.  I didn’t need to worry though as everyone gave me lots of strokes and made me feel very welcomed.

It got better.  The little hoomans then sat on the floor in a circle and I could walk around them all and say hello properly.  I may have hit a few with my tail it was wagging that much but I don’t think I hurt any of them.  They were talking about me and I could tell they wanted to get to know me better.

The little hoomans then went to sit at their tables and left me in the middle of the room.  I got excited when I saw them all playing with their own sticks, even though they were smaller than I’d usually choose.  Even my hooman started giving treats out to everyone except me.  I followed him and he finally offered me a treat but it was just paper.  Little hoomans are strange for wanting paper as treats!

It wasn’t long before we went outside and I loved this part of the day!  All the hoomans started running around the playground and even threw my squirrel toy for me!  Thank you!  I felt like I was part of the crew with everyone wanting to play with me!  I even slipped on the muddy field though and ended up a little dirty.  I was scared that I would be in trouble or that the little hoomans would make fun of me but nobody seemed to mind and they even helped get the mud off me!  I loved chasing everyone as they ran around.  We must have run for miles and miles!

When it was time to go back inside, one of the little hoomans walked me back to my den and they started playing withh those sticks again.  I was very sleepy by this point so I went for a cheeky nap and hoped that nobody noticed!  I was woken by a lot of loud noise and I scared for my little hoomans, my new crew.  I jumped out of my den and started barking at the noise but I think I scared some of the little hoomans.  It was very confusing and I’m sorry.  I realised that they were all safe and went back to my den.

Soon they all left me though and it was just me and my hooman.  It was an amazing day and I loved meeting my new friends and I want to thank them and the other crews that I met for being kind and gentle with me and welcoming me to their territory.  I won’t forget this day.

What I didn’t know though was that wasn’t the last I’d see of everyone!  They all came back and we watched a movie together in the hall!  I was a little grumpy when my hooman kept me in my den while everyone ate some delicious-smelling pizza but he soon let me out.  None of my new friends had saved me any though.  I walked around them all inspecting their teddies and seeing if I could borrow one nobody seemed willing to let me.  When the film finished, they all went home and I was left with my hooman.  He had to carry me out of the car when we got back because I was that tired and that’s why I’ve had to tell you all about my day today instead.  I hope that’s ok?

I’m hoping my hooman takes me in another time but perhaps you could ask him if I could, please?

Hopefully see you all again soon and you can show me more of how you work hard, get smart and be kind.

Woof woof! 🐾

The little hooman Be Kind HoWL hero today is Max!

It was hard to choose one but Max instantly made me feel safe and was always there to make sure I had a friend.  He didn’t even mind when I gave him a few licks!  I think I’ve found a new friend and that makes me happy.

Crew Welburn’s Weekly Reflection

What a fantastic week we have had in Crew Welburn! We’ve worked really hard in our writing and are half way through writing our story, we have been getting smart in maths to add numbers together, and we have been really kind when sharing the resources in provision.

Our HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard: Harrylee 🙌

Get Smart:  Kairen 🙌

Be Kind: Lylah 🙌

This week’s highlights:

Our highlight of the week has to be seeing the children work collaboratively in the provision area. It has been a little while since we had provision time in year 1 as we have been so busy, but the children really enjoyed this time and applied lots of their reading and writing skills from our lessons to the different areas.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.3

This weeks HoWL average is: 3.2

Weekly HoWL target: 3

Well done Crew Welburn! It’s not been easy keeping your HOWL scores up when you’re tired, but you’ve done it!

Crew Wilson Weekly Review: 11/12/2020

We have had a busy and hectic week this week in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the Week:

This week my highlight has been our Crew sessions. We have adopted a plant in our Crew which we have named ‘Leafy’, and we tell it how we are feeling every morning, because talking to plants makes them grow huge! We have decided that Leafy is a great listener as he cannot talk back! We have also tried out some new ways of answering questions in Crew sessions, such as a ‘whiparound’ and ‘popcorn answers’ and we absolutely love it, it is so great to see all of the Crew participating and listening to each other, well done!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This Howl goes to Finlay for his fantastic independent sentence that he had written about the Nativity Story in our Write Stuff lesson today, great work Finn!

Get Smart: This Howl goes to Daisy for her great attitude to learning in our Music lessons, she was actively involved and was having the time of her life dancing in time to the beat, well done Daisy!

Be Kind: This Howl goes to Stevie for her kindness out on the playground, ensuring every child had a turn at the game they were playing and asking children if they would like to join in too, brilliant Stevie!

Howl Average:

We have ended the week on a 3.3 – lots of reflection and pledges made for next week so we can get those fabulous 4’s ready for a big treat before we break up for Christmas!

We made it!!!!

Hooray we’ve reached the North Pole. 
