An interesting object…

An interesting object appeared in Crew Welburn’s outdoor area this week…it took us a little bit of time to investigate what it was, and what we could use it for, but as soon as we worked it out, we had so much fun! We worked really well as a crew to push, pull and take turns riding on the trolly around the outdoor area! We couldn’t wait to get back out today to have another turn!

LKS2 Expert Questions! 🕵️🕵️

As part of Expedition, LKS2 generated questions to ask their experts about life during the Second World War. This is in order to better understand how war changes lives. The experts are extra special to Mrs Lewins and Mr Gerrard, as they are grandparents to each.

The excitement from the children was amazing to see, with lots of fantastic questions being asked. We generated a list in which all the children contributed a question to ask these special experts. The engagement was fantastic and we know these experts will share lots of amazing knowledge about their lives during the Second World War!

Enjoying tomatoes in Crew Nursery.

In nursery we have fruit and vegetables everyday. We always talk about why we need to eat different foods to stay healthy.

Today we tried tomatoes. All the children held a small tomato and used their senses to explore the fruit.

“It’s very juicy” said Harlow. “It’s cold and hard” said Lucas. Poor Archie smushed his onto his legs and found lots of seeds. All the children were encouraged to take a bite. We praised Keenan who reluctantly held and tried his.

LKS2 Ration Plates! 🥬🍞🥚

Today, LKS2 looked into the consequences of rationing and how it worked. As part of answering our Guiding Question, How does war change lives?, LKS2 looked into the sharing of food during the Second World War. We learned that, due to rationing, the enemy tried to make us starve so that we gave up and surrendered. We learned that chocolate, much to our dismay, would only last a week. Despite this, there were many positives! Rationing stopped us from starving and we actually became healthier as a result of the food eaten!

October camps at Carcroft

I am very excited to announce Carcroft is holding active fusion camps again.

They are Monday 24th October – Friday 28th October.

Unfortunately this is not a funded event as they do not receive funding from the local government. There will therefore be a small fee.
