We are so proud of our children in KS1, today, we completed our Santa Dash to raise money for Hallam FM, Cash for Kids. The children were so excited to be ‘heroes’ in their community and help those children who are not as fortunate this Christmas. The children raised an incredible £306 pound in total, including the bake sale earlier in the term. We’d like to thank all of our parents and families for your support, we enjoyed having you with us today. The children were thrilled to have raised so much money. We can’t wait to buy and wrap the gifts to donate 💕 Here’s a couple of sneaky peaks 🎅
So in Crew Haddock the children had an old student come into school (Kodi) and showed them some basic boxing skills. The children really enjoyed this and really looking forward to some more 🥊
Crew Dorman had a lovely time decorating the classroom for Christmas this morning! We loved choosing which baubles we wanted to put on the Christmas tree. We worked as a crew to take it in turns to put on the baubles and listened to Christmas music whilst we decorated together! We think our classroom and our tree looks amazing! 🎄
Over the last two weeks we have been busy making lots of animals that we discovered lived in ‘Percy’s Park’ and the woodlands near us! We have used our cutting and sticking skills to explore feathers and leaves and I am sure you will agree our animal creations are super!
While we made the animals we discussed what we could find in a wood like Percy’s!
C said – “Owls live in a tree!”
A said – “Leaves and birds!”
R said – “A fox and rabbits”
N said – “Leaves sticks and rabbits”
We also discovered that lots of the animals in Percy’s park are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day and only come out to eat and play at night! What an exciting expedition! We hope you can join us for our celebration of learning next week on Thursday!
Crew MW had a lovely time decorating the classroom for Christmas this afternoon! We loved choosing which baubles we wanted to put on the tree and then climbing up onto the stool to reach the top. We think the trees look beautiful! 🎄
This very special event has brought together nominees from across Green Top’s local community who have been recognised for their invaluable work both with and for the people of Thorne. From food banks to emergency services to care homes – all were presented awards by KS1 children at Green Top, as part of their Expedition ‘Not all superheroes wear capes’. The list and variety of work celebrated this evening was incredible and each and every award was so well deserved. Congratulations to all of you from Green Top!
Norton Infants march for Askern CRY Foodbank
Carcroft celebrate and share their awesome ‘Chronica Carcroft’ Roman Newspaper!
During our celebration of learning, we were able to show our grown ups everything we have learnt during expedition this term. We shared our guiding question “Why should Doncaster remember the Romans?”. We then took it in turns to share what we had learnt in our 3 case studies (Geography, History and Science). Grown ups got the opportunity to look through our writing and expedition books to see our non-chronological report and diaries. We then shared our final product and had a browse through this. We are all really proud of how well this has turned out!
Today in Crew, we completed a kids vs adults DannyGo to get our bodies moving. All the children enjoyed working as a team vs Miss Pashley and Mrs Brown.
This afternoon, the children had the opportunity to share their expedition journey with their parents. They did an absolutely amazing job of speaking in front of an audience and proudly showed off the learning they have been doing. They should be beyond proud of themselves for the product they’ve produced.
We have a limited number of newspapers available for a donation if you would like a copy.
Thank you so much to all the grown ups that joined us for our Celebration of learning this afternoon. We really appreciate the support you’ve shown today.
