It has been lovely finding out what children have been working on across school. Well done to all the children who have shared their beautiful work with me over the last 2 weeks. Some fantastic work 🙂

Today in crew we explored why we are proud to be British citizens and then amazing things that make Britain great. We looked at famous landmarks, traditions and the people who inspire us to work hard in order to get smart. Kaison expressed he’s going to try hard in PE to challenge Sir Mo Farrah to a race! Riley suggested that our Christmas traditions make our country great and they bring our families together. What makes you proud to be British?
In our experience lesson we each made a mouse so we could put it in our shoe for their new house just like in the story The Smartest Giant in town. We loved reading this book again and found it funny that George the giant had to hop away because he has given one of his shoes.
Today in our art lesson we did our first and second drafts of our Pablo Picasso snowmen. We thought about the features of a snowman and then how we could use the shapes we had seen in Picasso’s artwork to make our own cubist snowman. After our first and second drafts we worked in pairs to offer critique that was kind, specific and helpful. Well done Crew Robson, I can’t wait to see your 3rd drafts tomorrow!
Today we started our Christmas writing by watching the story of The Jolly Postman. Henry realised straight away that in the book the postman visited famous characters from other traditional tales. We then talked about what kinds of things the postman would deliver to your house at Christmas time including gifts and cards. In the Jolly Christmas Postman the first house he visits is the Three Bears so we made Christmas cards for Baby Bear.
Today we continued with our Christmas writing where we used a variety of pictures to help us to chot adjectives, expanded noun phrases and similes. We showed some great collaborative working in mini crews, listening to each other and offering ideas. We then used our ideas in our shared write before applying to our own work. Unfortunately our presentation of work was not to the best standard today so we all worked hard to rewrite our work ensuring we thought about our letter formation, taking more pride in our work. We were proud in the difference in our work and now we all look forward to writing our second plot point.
Today we competed our first draft of our Christmas artwork – a snowman in the style of Picasso. The children critiqued each others art work with kind and specific feedback, as we have previously using Austin’s Butterly. We could already see improvements when we completed our second draft.
For today’s crew challenge, Crew Hamill got into pairs to go head to head in a game of Toe Tag. We had to stand back to back and on a given signal turn around and try to tap our partner’s toes with our own. The first person to 3 tags, was the winner!
Today we started out a Christmas writing, The Jolly Postman’s Christmas 🎅 we discovered his first port of call was The Three Bears house where he delivered a card to Baby Bear. To immerse ourselves into the text we made our own cards to deliver to baby bear.
Today we have listened to critique and feedback and redrafted our first piece. We have worked on the first section by making sure we have the right blue tones blended out into pinks. It was hard to master but there has been some amazing improvements so far. The children have worked really hard to follow the critique given.
