We have been studying about David Hockney this week and have created our own Hockney style photography artwork. I have loved seeing the final pieces!
Hansel and Gretel drama
In today’s experience lesson we read the last part of the tale of Hansel and Gretel. Once they had gone into the house they found out it was a nasty witch who owned it. The witch kept Hansel in a cage to fatten him up to eat and made Gretel do lots of horrible jobs. We loved acting out the different parts of the end of the story. Our favourite bit was when Gretel pushed the witch into the oven and they found all of her treasure so they were rich!
We had some great acting and super listening ears and magnet eyes in the audience!
Lovely learning….
Fabulous week in Crew Haigh… Phonics, Numbers and of course Pudsey fun.
Positive relationships 💕
In crew this week we have been looking at positive relationships and who we can trust. We have talked about how a trusting adult makes us feel and how they can support us. It has been great to look at this in bullying week as we now know, if we are feeling sad we can share that with someone who we trust.
A gingerbread house in the woods?
After reading the next part of Hansel and Gretel we learnt that Hansel and Gretel came across a gingerbread house in the middle of the woods. It had icing on it and lots of sweets. We created our own gingerbread houses in mini crews and had a competition to see who was the best voted by our parents. It was sticky work but we enjoyed eating it.
Wonderful week in the new Crew Haigh
What a wonderful week we have had getting to know each other and building relationships in Crew Haigh. We have explored a whole range of sensory and learning activities together and coped really well with the change in staff and new routines.
Leaving our trace in the woods … again
After reading the next part of Hansel and Gretel we learnt that Dad took them to the woods AGAIN! However, this time we dropped bread crumbs in the woods to be able to find our way back out. We saw lots of animals and felt even worse than we did the time before!
Hand 🤚 painting 🖌️
We painted our hands different colours to make some handprints to turn into police men and firemen for our display.
Expert visitor in KS1
Today we were lucky to be visited by Mrs Godley’s Grandma who talked to us about what it was like during World War Two and her experience of being in hospital.
The children asked some great questions and we all learnt a lot!
