The children used their super skills to make their own polar bears using white clay.
Today in crew we explored how we are kept safe at school, this is something we revisit daily. The children created an anchor chart to show all the ways we keep safe. We also looked at risks in everyday life such as crossing the road or helping our grown ups in the home.
Following our litter picking yesterday, Crew Hamill recycled the litter we collected and created some polar bear art! We created a giant polar bear out of the cleanest bits of litter we could find!
Whilst this was being completed, we also created mini polar bear collages using two different types of paper. Look at the cute polar bears we created – we were even able to add one to our display to join our larger polar bear!
Today we discovered the country of Africa in our experience lesson.
We started with ‘Waka, Waka’ which the children already know and love.
We then tried lots of different and unusual fruits.
In Crew Godley, we were challenged to become human springs! We had to work with a partner and lean against their outstretched arms. We then had to push back and forth several times in a comfortable, rhythmic manner. Once we had mastered it with our partner, we then changed partners and tried to see if we could get into the same rhythm.
We found it quite tricky to begin with, but we showed great resilience and tried really hard to work with different people in our crew to get it right!
Crew Robson had an amazing time at Scotties Heroes today. Mick was super impressed by their listening and teamwork. Great work crew!!
As part of hook week, Crew Hamill helped to clear some of the rubbish from our school environment. We were surprised at some of the larger items we found! We can’t wait to put this to use in our next hook week task. Keep your eyes peeled… 👀
Today, in Writing, we made jam sandwich’s to help with our instruction writing this week. We are going to be writing instructions on how to make a jam sandwich.
Today Y2 have continued to explore the Jewish faith and places of worship. We discovered that a synagogue is the Jewish place of worship, where Jews go to pray and speak to God. We compared this to a Christian church and found some differences and similarities. We found that the Torah scrolls contain the words of the Hebrew Bible and services are led by a rabbi or a worshipper.
