When we got in from break today we heard our classroom door make a strange noise, we had been delivered a newspaper that told us the great explorer (Tom’s Dad) had gone missing in North Pole.
We decided that we wanted to help, so we all wrote our own newspaper describing what Tom’s Dad looked like and where he had gone missing. We then told the rest of the school about this by posting it under their classroom doors.
In today’s experience lesson we tried to see if we could find where penguin was because he was feeling lonely and sad. Luckily using our telescopes we managed to find him rowing in an umbrella!
After finishing our balanced arguments, we have been preparing for our independent writing. Today we carried on the excellent work in PE by enjoying some argument tennis to help us to think of ways that we can share our opinions on a range of topics. We also discussed the importance of the planning process in becoming writers and are looking forward to planning our own balanced arguments tomorrow to help us really show off our writing skills!
This morning, we have completed our planning in preparation for writing the rest of the week. This allowed us to collect some good vocabulary, fronted adverbial and ideas so we have a good starting point for writing tomorrow.
In our writing lesson today we have been ordering pictures from the Ice Age clip, to help us order and sort our writing. This is preparation for our independent write next week.
Today we critiqued a crew members habitat section of their non chronological report. We thought about sentences where target grids had been used then we unpicked and redrafted sentences that needed to be better. We all worked well in mini crews to do this before giving feedback to the whole crew. We then applied what we had learnt to our own work, editing and redrafting our own sentences. We are getting much more confident in this part of the writing sequence.
Today in writing they were ordering pictures from the movie Ice Age ,ready to start their independent write next week.They used the movie clips to help them.
Today we started to edit and redraft our non chronological report 🙂 We are hoping to publish this piece of writing so we all worked hard to improve our sentence structure.
This morning, we have had our experience lesson for our independent write. We sequenced the pictures of the video and then chotted some ideas and vocabulary we might use. We then completed our planning sheet with lots of year 3 features such as fronted adverbials, conjunctions and ambitious vocabulary.
