Crew Godley Experience Lesson 👩⚕️ 🏥

Today MI discussed the importance of our school library. We thought about what our library has to offer. We had a game of library detectives where children found a variety of books… a book that makes them smile, a non fiction book, a history book and a book that interests them. Crew MI shared their choices with other members of the crew, explaining their reasons for their selections. They then selected a book they wanted to read or browse. They spent some quiet time just enjoying their book whilst Mrs McClare enjoyed time listening to every child read out loud. What a lovely end to our Monday afternoon.
In today’s experience lesson we visited a hospital – it was really dirty with blood, sick and dirt. It wasn’t very nice or friendly. We decided we would not want to be looked after there.
On Friday, we celebrated Libraries Week by taking a trip to our school library. We each picked out a book and we showed it to the other members of our crew. We then decided which book we wanted to read in the library, chilling on the bean bags and cushions, as well as choosing a book to take back to the classroom with us. We absolutely LOVE going to the library! 📚
This afternoon we took some time to go to the library to change our books but also to use our beautiful space to read. Nothing better then enjoying a snack while reading a good book.
Well done to the following children who consistently read at home. In some cases they are reading every single night. It would be lovely to see some more reading records next week. 📖
This morning we have tried another game during reading called Rally Table. Children worked in partners to take it in turns to record information we’ve learned during our reading lessons.
Today we were thinking about the Big, Bad Wolf and what he looked like. We started off by making split pin wolves and thought about the different parts of the wolf. We then went on a hunt around the room and looked at pictures of real wolves to generate some vocabulary for our writing tomorrow.
This week in reading, Crew Thompson used text marking to help unpick the text. We started new pages this week so it was really important to get a good understanding of the text and what the key words meant. In our next book talk lesson, we will use our text marking to help create a class glossary of these key words. This will really help us in our demonstration lesson later on in the week.
