Reading Time!
Crew Ramsay loved going under the tables and cosying down in the pillows to enjoy some reading with Year 5. As we get more and more familiar, we are really beginning to bond with our buddies and grow as little people. Crew goes beyond the year groups at Carcroft as we are learning in Year Two!
Chocolate Crew!
Crew Ramsay would like to acknowledge the kindness and generosity of the donators of our advent calendars. We have loved counting down the days to Christmas so far. We have learned to take turns, recognise numerals and share life’s little joys with our friends… what a beautiful way to be a crew! Thank you!
Peer Critique!
In Crew Ramsay, we have enjoyed independent writing which culminated in peer critique time today. We read our work loud and proud and received critique from a peer. We have already edited our work so didn’t make any changes to our actual work but we did think about our feedback and pledged to consider it going forward. Character Traits
Yesterday, Crew Gray launched their character traits and learnt all about what makes a good person. The five character traits were courage, respect, integrity, compassion as well as craftsmanship and quality. Crew Gray explored what the different character traits look like and they pledged to how they are going to demonstrate courage this week.
Character Traits
Crew Ramsay loved learning about our character traits and the superheroes which represent them! We made up actions for each hero and did some drama around what this trait might present as in our lives. Here we are modelling our action for ‘Courage’. Don’t we all look so courageous!?
Courage.
This week we have launched our character traits within crew Frost. This week we are focusing courage. Courage for crew is a Lion character, who is brave and tries new things even when hesitant. Courage asks questions and chooses to do hard work not just easy work. To build on our courage we had some volunteers come and bake play dough! Seeing and feeling new textures can be quite a daunting thing for children, but we are so proud they dove straight in! Even sharing, taking turns, and waiting is a courageous thing to do. Well done crew Frost for trying something new.
Character Traits
Crew Haddock looked at the new character traits today. The children took part in a discussion about who they look up to and why? We talked about how we demonstrate courage in and out of school, plus this is something we are focusing on this term. We took part in some activities by trying something new with our eyes closed.
We Stop, we look, we listen
This week crew Frost have been focusing on road safety. The children practiced using playground track, taking turns to stop, look, and listen before crossing. What a great way to build up our role play skills! We also created pictures of a lollipop lady and talked about her important role in helping people cross safely. In addition, we learned about traffic lights and zebra crossings, discussing what each color and symbol means. Well done crew Frost. We can’t wait to see you use such important skills.
Snow day
Today crew Frost have timed it perfectly in our phonic session by planning and executing another environmental walk. During this phonics session nursery focused on the weather by marking marks on their boards for what they could see and the way the weather felt. When we came back we practiced our Fredding skills by asking questions such as was it h-o-t? Then we used our think, pair, share protocol to discuss the meanings to the marks we had made for our outside adventure. The children loved the snow! Well done for another successful phonics session Crew Frost.
