A great first day back! It’s almost like we haven’t been away.
Some fantastic collaboration while the children explore the impacts diet, exercise and drugs have on our body.

What a great day with swimming. Lots of children pushing themselves to achieve and it’s been great in Crew hearing them talk about how proud of themselves they are.
Have a lovely half term. Have fun and be safe.
We’ve had such a lovely day celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee and it was lovely seeing all the families enjoying themselves.
Crew Shields absolutely loved their time on the bouncy castle. Thank you to all Crew Shields parents for joining us. 😊
Massive well done to Crew Shields for completing a first aid course.
The instructor was extremely impressed with their learning behaviours and maturity.
Today, we had the chance to dissect a heart which would allow us to develop our understanding further. We weren’t all delighted at the prospect of cutting the heart open but we had a go. Although, some of us had to leave the room. Definitely, a different experience in the classroom for Crew Shields.
Max/Ellie – I enjoyed exploring the aorta and the vena cava.
Hannah – I loved dissecting the heart and exploring the aorta and vena cava.
Ellie – I learned the muscle on the right side of the heart is thicker because it has more work to by pumping all the blood around the body. The Left muscle wall is thinner because it only has to pump blood to the lungs.
Crew Shields supported schools across the nation in an attempt to break the World Record for the amount of people watching a live steam for numbers.
We enjoyed joining in with the dancing warm up and were thrilled when we discovered the World Record had been beaten.
We started the day by logging the types of food we eat day to day and then deciding whether these were healthy or unhealthy. Some of the children had BIG surprised when they found out some of the foods they thought were healthy were actually unhealthy.
Blind food tasting – the best part of the day for me. The look on their faces as they tried foods such as peppers, pickled oniond and dark chocolate. Great to hear some children say there were foods they’d like to try again like pineapple or kiwi.
Ready, Steady, Bake
Children were given a recipe, ingredients and then had to work together to make 3 ingredient sugar cookies. There were a few mishaps but they managed to make the cookies. There have been some people up this afternoon to vote for their favourite – the winning group will be revealed tomorrow…
A huge well done to Crew Shields for this last term. It’s been busy but we’ve crammed lots of learning in and I’m confident this will continue next term. Have a well deserved rest and be safe. Hope you have a wonderful Easter Break.
Wow! It has been such a busy week in Crew Shields as we completed our final products. I was extremely impressed with the children’s dedication to bringing items in for their design. They conducted themselves in a mature and safe manner to ensure they kept not only themselves safe but also others.
I am beyond proud of how they have done and we’re super excited for you to see the final product! No doubt you’ll be as impressed as myself and Mrs Smith are with them.
A great day had by all at Tropical World. Some great questions and discussions as we walked around. Lovely to hear the children discussion their learning while observing animals we have discussed during our expedition lessons.
