In Crew Welburn, we have been looking at the story of Jack and the Beanstalk! The children have loved using the props to re-tell the story, and have used these alongside the book to draw a story map today. The children used their maps to re-tell the story using some of our new words. I was very impressed with the detail that they could remember! Today we have started our first draft of our artwork for our final product. To say these are our first drafts we are very proud of our beautiful work already! We had three groups: some children decided to draw a mic with the help of Miss Taylor (to represent MLKs speech) which was for children less confident with art, the next group worked step by step with me to draw George Floyd and the last group lead their own learning by pushing for 4 and challenged themselves to follow an online tutorial drawing Martin Luther King.
Today in Crew Welburn, we have been looking at 2D shapes. We learnt all about squares and rectangles, and then used a range of shapes to create pictures. Lots of these ended up on our proud pieces wall as we worked really hard to create them and to talk about the shapes and their properties within the pictures.
Last week, Crew MI learnt all about light. We investigated how light travels and learnt that it travels in straight lines. We explored what would happen if we blocked the light if we moved cardboard. Here are some of our fantastic science reports.
Shout out to Esme, who has produced some beautiful arithmetic and writing work at the weekend. She has self assessed her times table knowledge, used working models for her long division and highlighted year 6 writing standards within her writing. I think we have a teacher in the making! Amazing effort!
Lots of children do extra revision and learning at home in Crew Mcloughlin and it makes me beam with pride 🤩 Lets keep up the hard work!
Crew MI have really been thinking about their handwriting and presentation and we are all working really hard to reflect on every piece of work, challenging ourselves to improve. Here you can see our beautiful work display with some great examples of the writing and arithmetic work we have produced.
Today, LKS2 launched their final products for both the Spring and Summer Expeditions. Thanks to our trusty sales people, they expertly sold our CDs for the Expedition Why should we protect our beautiful planet? They also were able to sell our sweets that we made for the Expedition answering Why is sugar not sweet? The sweets were freshly packed this morning and we hope that you enjoyed them!
A huge thanks goes to the many parents that turned up and were able to raise money for different charities. It was so cool to see and there were so many lovely vibes, smiley faces and excited children. We will inform you of the money raised in due course! Thanks also to Mrs Fox for taking photos of the event!

We would just like to say a massive thank you again to parents attending our celebration event this afternoon, it was great to have parents back in school celebrating the children’s hard work. We loved sharing our final product song with you and will be in touch soon to tell you about purchasing the CD.
