  • Creating beautiful written work
  • Completing our Roman mosaic

Our HoWLs today were: 2.8

This week our HoWl target was: 2.9

Our HoWL hero today was Kaitlynn. Kaitlynn has worked hard to develop her cursive writing and it is certainly starting to show in her English work. Well done!

Tantalizing Thursday! ⭐

Today has been an interesting day in Crew Elmer! We have had a busy end to the week but have achieved so much!

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today’s star moment has got to be our Maths lesson this morning. Yesterday we struggled with comparing and calculating the area of a range of different rectilinear shapes. However, today looking at it with fresh eyes and learning about it through a different approach we all smashed it! All crew members can now confidently explain what area is, how to calculate it and how to compare areas as well as drawing shapes that have the same, less than and more than the same area. Great effort Crew Elmer! 😁👍

Todays HoWL average is: 3.1

An improvement from yesterday and a great score to end the week off! Well done Crew Elmer!

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this next week?

Next week, we need to make sure that we are kind to all of our crew members especially to those returning back into the classroom. We also need to make sure that we are following our HoWLs at all times.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Heroes were Bobby-Joe and Maddie! These two joined crew Elmer unexpectedly at the start of lockdown but instantly settled into Crew Elmer. They have been an absolute pleasure to teach and have really contributed well to our Crew! They are both incredibly hard working and have been great role models. Amazing work you too! 🙌😁⭐👏 You will both be greatly missed but we are sure you will slot straight back into Crew Boswell and be very happy! 😁

Crew Shields – 4/3/21

The children have worked hard to complete their writing and expedition learning in preparation for the return of everyone next week. I have loved reading the children’s writing especially as they are trying hard to be more independent. We are really looking forward to having all of Crew Shields back together.

Crew Shields Average : 2.6

Targets for this week : 3.0

How can we improve?

To further improve, Crew Shields need to ensure they are producing beautiful work by focusing on their presentation.

Crew Shields Get Smart Howl Hero – Holly
Holly has been working extremely hard in RWI to retain her speed sounds and how to read them within words. Also within writing, she has been building her independence and really considering how to use her RWI when spelling/writing.

Crew Thiede 4.3.21

Today we have been mathematicians! 🧮

This morning we did some yummy baking with Mrs Rafter. We counted how many spoon fulls of flour and sugar we needed to make our batter, then we shared the mixture into bun cases. We were careful to make sure they were all the same! 🧁

This afternoon we explored the number 1. We worked so hard doing lots of fun things to help us understand it in lots of ways. We did 1 jump, 1 hop and even stood on one leg before using objects to show what 1 looks like.

One foot
Can you stand on one leg?

Keep your eyes peeled for more maths fun on This Week in the Phase! 👀

Today our HOWL score was 3! Well done, Crew! 👏🏻

Today our HOWL hero was Rose.🌹 She has been such a good example of our HOWL values today. Showing her good listening skills, helping her to get smart and being a role model to her crew!

Thursday ✔

Highlight of the day: We’ve had a fantastic today and the highlight of my day was RWI. My group worked so hard and it was a pleasure to hear the children so excited by their learning. The children were so kind to each other, we had a multitude of praises to give to each other. Noah praised Dom for his fantastic blending skills, Dom absolutely blew me away today with his determination.

Howl Heroes:

Get Smart: Shelby worked so hard today in math’s to complete her addition sentences independently. She was so impressed by herself she continued this during her independent learning time.

Get Smart: Evelynn worked independently today in the writing area to draw an alien family like the one we had discovered in a text we had read. She then labelled her masterpiece with a caption using the resources available to her, this is getting smart as she had carefully listened to instructions and created beautiful work.

Howl Average: 3.1

A great end to the week, we’ve finally cracked back into the 3’s and have improved our listening skills and work hard ethic. There is always room for improvement and we reflected on our targets for next week. Well done Crew Godley!

⭐️Star moments of today ⭐️
Today nursery have worked hard on their maths skills in lots of ways. The children made buns with Mrs Rafter where they measured and weighed the ingredients, counted their bun cases and shared out the mixture evenly. This is such a fun way to do maths! 🧁

We also worked in groups looking at the number 1 again to ensure we are really confident in recognising the number. We counted out 1 object, practised writing the number and matched the number to 1 object. Some children even began to look at simple number problems adding objects. Fantastic work 🌟

HOWL Hero 🦸‍♂️ Kaison for getting smart in maths and completing number problems ⭐️

Crew Ferguson Daily Blog 4.3.21

Today we have continued to develop our writing skills by continuing to write our own “Dragon Post” story. We worked hard to add the conjunctions so, but, because and even with to extend our sentences.

We worked hard to write through the action and feelings lenses using time adverbials. Miss Ferguson has been blown away with our thoughts and ideas and can’t wait to continue this learning next week!

Our Howl average today was 2.9 which is higher than yesterday. Well done everyone x

Crew Gerrard (4/3/21)

Our last day before we’re back as a full Crew and we can’t wait to welcome back our online learners on Monday. We have had a really positive day and managed to get to grips with our fractions. We had a great attitude towards our learning! Our HoWL Heroes were:

Work Hard: Amelia for showing a great attitude towards adding fractions 😁

Get Smart: Ellie-May for a superb piece of writing 😃

Be Kind: Sapphire – you are such a role model to your Crew with your kindness and fantastic attitude 😄

Our HoWL average was 3.1 today, so it was a good way to end the school week! 😆

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 4.3.21

Work Hard: Finlay for using his ‘storyteller voice’ when reading the story in phonics, well done!

Get Smart: Tommy T for following instructions and continually improving his listening skills, keep it up!

Be Kind: Mia for being kind in the playground and making sure everyone was happy playing together, great stuff!

Howl Average: 3.3
