Crew Elmer Daily Blog 27.01.21

Wonderful Wednesday! 🤩

We have had another great day in Crew Elmer this week! The children have all been working really hard and striving to get Green Standard in as many lessons as they can as well as get 4’s in their HoWL scores! The children have also smashed their HoWL points target for this week which just shows how hard they have been working! Excellent work to both those crew members in school and those accessing remote learning! 👏🙌👍😁

Star moment of the day:

Today’s star moment of the day has got to be our maths lesson this morning. I was blown away with how quickly all crew members grasped the concept of dividing 3-digit numbers by 10. All crew members demonstrated an excellent understanding of place value and were able to use this to enable them to effectively divide numbers by 10! One of the best maths lessons so far! Excellent work Crew!

Todays HoWL average is: 3.0

Another good score today and it also means that we are on track to meet this week’s HoWL target! Well done Crew! Just two more days to go!!

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

All crew members need to make sure that tomorrow they are focused on their learning at all times. Some crew members have had to have quite a few reminders today and their behaviour in class. Hopefully tomorrow we can fix this! 🤞

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was all of the online children for their amazing work for the past 4 weeks, as well as the dedication and determination that they have demonstrated through this such difficult time. They are really missing their crew members and we are all aware how hard it must be to do their learning at home and not to be in school with the rest of their crew. So BIG praises to you all from all of us in school! 👏⭐🤩🙌😁

Good afternoon everyone,

We have had a lovely afternoon in crew today completing some more work on our expedition question. “What mysteries do castles keep?”

We have produced our own time line recording the different castles which were built at different times throughout history.

The children then labeled these castles and described why each of the castles were different.

We had great discussions around why stone was used to replace wood. The children pulled on their prior learning of wooden houses (The Great Fire of London) to explain why wood was not a great material for building castles. Knights used flaming bow and arrows to invade castles and wooden castles crumbled and burnt down quickly.

I can not wait to see what the children produce tomorrow.

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Skyler – for a fantastic attitude to all of her learning.

Get smart: Konstantin – for perseverance in his math’s.

Be kind: Lexie– for being helpful and supportive to everyone online.

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.4! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Crew Gerrard (27/1/21)

Wonderful Wednesday! Today, Crew Gerrard have been working hard at their reading skills. This has happened in school and online. Thank you for your patience online today. It has been tricky to pick our HoWL heroes, who are:

Work Hard: Belle for doing a great job with her division skills 😃

Get Smart: Brayden for working really hard on his divisions – he was so proud of himself 😁

Be Kind: Jolie for putting a smile on other people’s faces, as usual 😄

Our HoWL average was 3.1 today, so a little dip – let’s improve it tomorrow! 😆

What a terrific Tuesday we have had in Year 2 today.  The children have continued to write up their class story “George and the Dragon” looking carefully at the middle section. We spoke about how a story has to have a “juicy” problem to engage the reader. The children used amazing adjectives to describe the stories problem and then went on to write about how the main character could overcome that problem. The children showed real stamina within their writing, ensuring they produced beautiful,  quality work.

Our HOWL heroes today were:

James for working hard, as he tried so hard to produce a lovely middle section to his story by self reflection and editing his final paragraphs.

Darcie for getting smart, she has been a pleasure today and has worked hard to gain green standard in all her learning throughout the day.

Well done everyone. X

We have had an AMAZING day in Crew Elmer today! The crew have been on task all day and worked incredibly hard! As a result, our crew have become very smart and many of them have achieved Green Standard in multiple subjects and awarded themselves 4’s for their HOWLs. A FAB day! Well done Crew!

Star moment of the day:

Well Miss Hart, our Deputy Crew Leader would have to say that this was today’s PE lesson with Coach Shelley! The children really enjoyed getting their groove on and trying out lots of different dance moves! Excellent work Crew Elmer! 💃👏🙌👍⭐😁

Todays HoWL average is: 2.8

A good but disappointing score after so many crew members worked hard today! I hope that tomorrow we can get this score back up to at least a 3.0. 🤞

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

All crew members need to make sure that tomorrow they continue to try their best, maintain a positive attitude at all times and work hard in all lessons. I know we can do it! 💪

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Ryleigh! Ryleigh was chosen by Miss Hart and I for working hard all day! Ryleigh has contributed well in every lesson today, allowing other children to magpie her ideas especially in The Write Stuff. Ryleigh also danced her socks off in PE which wowed everyone! Excellent work Ryleigh! Well done! 👏⭐🤩🙌😁
