Crew Kent Daily Blog 02.12.20

Today in crew we have a worked hard in our assessments. We have looked closely at each question and tried our best to answer each question to the best of our knowledge independently.

We have continued to add miles to our daily sponsored Christmas walk to reach the North Pole. We have worked out to reach our target, each child in crew needs to walk 6 laps each day. This sure wakes us up on a morning!

Our HOWL heroes today are:

McKenzie for Working Hard and continuing to have a positive attitude towards his learning.

Chloe for Getting Smart and working on feedback given from her assessments.

Skyler for Being Kind to others in the crew and ensuring her peers are all feeling ok.

Our HOWLs overall score today was 3.3! Well done Crew 🙂

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 01.12.20

Terrific Tuesday! The children have been very excited today with Buddy (our class Elf on the Shelf) arriving, getting to open the first door on the advent calendar and the return of Miss Clarke! 🎉🎄🎁

Star moment of the day:

This has to be how hard the children worked to complete a number of tests this morning including Reading and Arithmetic. The children showed great resilience and despite it being an exciting day the children were still focused and worked incredibly hard. Well done Crew Elmer! 👏🙌👍🤩⭐ I will accept this all week please! 😊🤞

Todays HoWL average is: 2.7

A little dip in our HoWL average but today we had 3 children absent which caused us to score 9 points instead of a possible 36 if those children has scored all 4’s instead of the minimum 1’s. Also some children let themselves slip slightly today which also caused some lower scores. I am hoping that tomorrow the absent children will return and we can improve our HoWL score. 🤞

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.1

How can we develop this tomorrow?

As a Crew we need to make sure that we are supporting each other to be the best that we can be because I think that some people need some little reminders leading up to Christmas.🎄

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today I got to choose the HoWL Hero for Crew Elmer. However, it was lovely to hear that Miss Clarke would of selected the same child! We chose Rowen for ‘working hard’ all day! Sometimes this boy finds it difficult to adapt to change but today Rowen completed both tests independently and showed great determination to get them done! He has also participated well throughout the day and as Miss Clarke said he tried really hard in both Hooked on Books and Fix It Time this afternoon! Honestly, no one in Crew Elmer could fault this boy today and as a reward he was chosen to open door number 1 of our class advent calendar! Well done Rowen! 🤩⭐🙌👍👏

Crew Longley – 01.12.2020

A visit from Eric the Elf, a day planning our next story, showcasing arithmetic skills and revising reading.

Today’s HoWL average 3.1 👌

Our HoWL target is: 3

How can we develop  Really focus on using methods and double checking our answers in order to get smart.

Our Hero today was Jemma. Jemma has worked really hard on her phonics today. Well Done!

Homework.

Please remember to bring your reading and homework back on THURSDAY this week.

Crew Godley Daily Blog 01.12.2020

What a magical day we have had 🎄 The children were so excited to come into class today to see the final touches to our Christmas decorations. Our advent calendar was ready to go and Shaina was the lucky one to be chosen to find out what was in ‘number one’ today. Before the children are able to find their treat they have a special job to do 😊 They have to complete a little activity – this includes telling a Christmas joke 🤣 singing a Christmas song 🎶 or doing a little trick ⛄. Shania sang a lovely version of Twinkle, Twinkle little Star ⭐

The children have worked hard today during their writing session, we explored characters feelings in ‘The Stickman’ and wrote some fantastic sentences! I was so impressed that the children remembered to use their fingers spaces and Fred talk to spell some tricky words. We have also been getting smart by supporting each other with our reading. Children have worked fantastically in pairs to support each other to read CVC words. Some of the children were amazed they could read when they doubted they could. I am so proud of the progress the children are making ❤

Our HoWL heroes today were:

Be Kind – Reggie was kind to his peers and supported them in their play. The were in fits of giggles.

Work Hard – Ameena persevered when writing her name even when it got a little tricky.

Get Smart – Lilly used her math’s skills in provision today to complete some addition sentences.

Well done everyone!

Crew Boswell – 01.12.20

We’ve begun our Advent countdown and have taken a slightly different angle on it this year.  We’re looking at toys of the past.  Today, we’ve started with marbles.

Did you know there is evidence of marbles being used as far back as Ancient Greece and Egypt?

It’s been a good day for us today and we’ve coped with the slight changes to our timetable well.  Our star moment today has to be the improving handwriting and growing independence that everyone is showing!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can continue our effort to ensure that the work that we’re producing is beautiful and something that we can be proud of.  I wonder which parents will get to see some beautiful work next?

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind HoWL Hero today is Lexi!

Lexi would have had a great day even without the HoWL Hero and very nearly missed out on her recognition today.  A lot of what Lexi does is quiet and done without attracting much attention; a fact that those she helps often appreciate.  However, it’s important to recognise what she does do to support us all in crew and it was great to see us doing just that this afternoon.  Thank you, Lexi.

Crew Shields – 1/12/20

Our Expedition lesson fit perfectly with the fact we have now entered December, The children had the opportunity to learn about Christingle and even got to make one. They learned the meaning of each part of the Christingle.

Can the children remember what the red ribbon represents?

Can they remember what the orange represents?

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to ensure they are sitting correctly in their seats which will support their writing and presentation.

Today we found it difficult to choose just one child for Howl Hero as there were a few children that have blown us away. Therefore, as a one off we have selected a few.

Our Be Kind hero today is RiRi!

RiRi was awarded Howl Hero because she has been going out of her way to support Mrs Lowe since she returned from shielding. Mrs Lowe has really appreciated RiRi helping to limit the things she comes into contact with. Well done RiRi.

Our Be Smart Hero’s are:

Maddie!

Maddie blew me away to day with her scores in the arithmetic test. It was evident she has taken onboard the strategies we have been learning to help us work out the questions. Well done Maddie.

Alicia

Alicia has been working really hard in Maths and this showed in her arithmetic scores today. I am so impressed with her determination to learn. Well done Alicia.

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 1/12/2020

What a wonderful day we have had in Crew Wilson today!

Highlight of the day:

Today we had a special visitor into school – Reverend Paul- who taught us all about Christianity. The Crew were so interested in what Rev Paul had to say and asked some fantastic questions about God, Jesus, Christianity, Christmas…… and coronavirus😂

We also had another visitor in the classroom today – our naughty elves! The children loved writing about him in our morning task, shoutout to Jake for his brilliant sentence – The elf is cheeky and naughty! Well done!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: Debbie Mae for blowing us away with her independent sentence for instructional writing, well done!

Get Smart: Stevie and Toby for collaborating when they were stuck, working together to find the answer, well done!

Be Kind: I couldn’t pick just one hero for this one today so it goes to the whole class for being kind to our visitor and also to our teachers today by listening carefully to instructions, well done everyone!

Howl Average:

3.5 today, we are staying strong with a high score and will be able to maintain or get even higher by the end of the week.

Crew Gerrard (01/12/20)

Hi everyone,

We’ve had another great day in Crew Gerrard, where we have been working hard, during our first day of assessments. I have seen so much effort from everyone. The children have also enjoyed seeing and critiquing their own product that they will be making, as part of their expedition – more on this soon! It was difficult to choose the HoWL heroes for today, and they are:

Working hard: Amelia 🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Evie 🦸‍♂️

Being kind: Alicia 🦸‍♂️

Our HoWL average was 2.9!

Let’s keep showing the same determination tomorrow! 😆
