Crew Flaherty Daily Blog 6.10.20

A terrific Tuesday today. Well done Crew Flaherty

Highlights of the day:

It was lovely to see our Crew have their own individual photographs taken this morning. They all looked very smart.

Everyone in our Crew listened carefully and followed instructions in their KIXX session. We had lots of fun playing our ‘Wreck it Ralph’ game. Well done Crew Flaherty.

In our English lesson today, we wrote a fabulous sentence including commas in a list. I wonder if we can focus on our letter formation tomorrow to ensure our work is beautiful.

HOWLs

Our HOWL average for the day is 3.2. A great score Crew Flaherty. Keep up the hard work.

Work Hard

Hollie for completing her fluency and reasoning task in maths.

Get Smart

Lacey-Jo for listening carefully in maths and counting in 2s confidently.

Be Kind

Chase for sharing equipment in his KIXX session today. It was lovely to see such a caring nature from a member of our Crew.

I wonder who will be our HOWL heroes tomorrow.

Crew Gerrard (06/10/2020)

Hi everyone!

We’ve had another really great day in Crew Gerrard, where we have worked hard, tried to get smart and been kind to each other. It was difficult to choose our HoWL heroes today and here they are:

Work Hard: Alicia 🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Amelia 🦸‍♂️

Being kind: Tyler 🦸‍♂️

Our HoWL average was 2.9. Well done guys and keep up the effort!

Crew Longley – 6.10.2020

Crew Longley have been continuing to develop their writing in the form of the ‘Little Book of Feelings’ today and have also started to build the website as part of the expedition finished product.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Longley need to ensure that they are continuing to work as hard as they have today. They have been amazing!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Howl hero today is Kayden!

The whole Crew have spotted just how hard Kayden has worked today and the difference in his attitude. Well done Kayden!

Crew Godley Daily Blog 06.10.20

What a tremendous Tuesday!

Today I want to give a massive shout out to the whole Crew – Crew Godley have absolutely worked their socks off today! They have worked so hard to show all of their teachers what “Working Hard” looks like when they are working with an adult. I am very proud!

Highlights of the Day

RWI Another day of fantastic phonics progress. Today I had the pleasure of teaching our children the phoneme ‘m’ – Maisie, Maisie, Mountain! The children sorted objects beginning with the sound ‘m’, identified the grapheme and successfully blended CVC words including the sound ‘m’. We then tried really hard to write the grapheme ‘m’, well done everybody!

Math’s The children have been focusing on number recognition on exploring lots of different ways to represent the numbers they have been focusing on. We were super impressed with how some children are beginning to form their numbers and becoming focused on 1:1 touch counting.

Crew Learning In Crew learning today we have being thinking about how a rainbow 🌈can symbolise our thoughts and feelings. The children were very excited to share their experiences during COVID and how the rainbow helped them during the difficult time🌈 . We then used colours to show how different things made us feel. Grace used the colour pink as this made her feel loved💕 She then drew a fantastic picture of ‘Mummy’ as she loves her 👩‍👧 and labelled this with a ‘M’ for Mummy. We love to see children applying their phonics skills!

Crew Shields – 6/10/20

Crew Shields have been continuing to practice their computing skills this afternoon. They have worked as pairs to code. In addition, they have started to make contributions to their very own website which is our final product for the expedition.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to start building on their independence. This will allow them to take ownership of their own learning.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart hero today is Tommy!

Tommy was able to deepen the moment in writing today by using a simile. This shows that he has been paying attention to the modelling in writing. Well done Tommy.

Crew blog: 6/10/20

My star moment in class today is our writing lesson. In writing we have looked at the features of a diary entry and pieced them back together using our actions to help us.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.5! 🙌

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.3

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh needs to make sure they are working hard on their learning and showing this by completing work and listening.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is Max!

Max has tried really hard all day to be kind to everyone in his crew. He has made sure he has been a good friend to his peers, and played nicely at break time.

Crew Kent Blog 6.10.20

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: McKenzie 🐱‍👤

Get smart: Deacon 😎

Be kind: Chloe and Crystal 🤳

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 2.9! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Well done Crew Kent 👍

Crew Nicholson Daily Blog 5.10.20

Wow today has absolutely flown by! 😴 Today the children had so much energy to burn when they came to school, so what a perfect start to the day having P.E with Kixx. The children worked on their gross motor skills pretending to be kangaroos 🦘 jumping in the hoops. I was amazed how the children used different techniques such as crouching down to jump!

Later some children went to forest school where they did a gruffalo hunt 🌳🍃🍂 The children were working hard and working as crew by helping each other. They have built lovely relationships and really look out for each other. I have noticed them helping each other to zip each other’s coats up and helping tidy away together. This is excellent team work! 🌟

HOWL Heros

Working Hard – Lily-Ann

Lily-Ann gave her maximum effort in P.E and has been working hard during maths finding me an object to demonstrate her understanding of the number 1. Great work Lily-Ann 🌟

Parent Feedback ‘Mid Term’

I would just like to thank parents for their feedback. We had 36 responses which is great. We are going to work on your areas for development over the next week or so; Teachers will be working on this feedback and coming up with solutions to your questions (wherever we feel we can).

Please look out for our, ‘you said, we did’ document which we will be sent out before the October half term, sharing what action we have taken to further improve our school.

Thank you again 🙂

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 05.10.20

Happy Monday! 😊

Despite it being a miserable Monday to start with 🌧 it didn’t take long for the sun to start shining in Crew Elmer! ☀

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today I praise how AMAZING Crew Elmer have been ALL day today! 🤩 However, the ‘star moment’ of the day for me was the questions that the children generated to ask our expert when we do a ‘meet and greet’ session on Thursday. The excitement 😁 that the children showed when I told them that they would be meeting a real life miner was unreal and then the thoughtful questions that they listed relating to mining were excellent. Watch this space for a list of our fabulous questions…

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

This is a great score for a Monday and also means that we are on track for getting a spin on the wheel if we keep this up! 💪

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are continuing to ‘be kind’ at all times especially at play times and lunch times as this seems to be where most problems are arising. Remember our rules for ‘playing kindly’ at crew times. 💕

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Esme for being our ‘kind’ ‘HoWL Hero! This girl has played really nicely with her crew at break and lunch times today and this was recognised by lots of the crew. I have also noticed Esme volunteering to hand books out, hold doors open, support children with their learning and use her manners when speaking to her crew members. Keep this up Esme, you are setting a really good example to the rest of us! 👏👍🙌😊❤
