Crew Welburn’s Weekly Reflection

Friday✔

What a fantastic week we have had in Crew Welburn. The children have been kind and caring towards each other and have really shown that they are working hard 😁

Highlights from the week:

Expedition – DT:

Our expedition work has really hooked the children in this week. They have shown how well they can work in pairs to listen to each other and have worked really hard to create physical features for our community model.

World Mental Health Day:

The children have had so much fun today. We have learnt lots of different ways to help keep our minds healthy. We listened to each other’s ideas about how to make each other happy before printing our hands and writing these on, and we did some yoga to help us to clear our minds. The children really enjoyed yoga!

Our HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard: Harrylee

Get Smart: Bronwyn

Be Kind: Kyden

This week’s Learning Legend:

This week’s Learning Legend is Elijah.  Elijah has been such a fantastic role-model for our be kind focus this week in Crew Welburn. He always includes children in his crew so that they do not feel left out, he shows kindness towards adults by listening and following instructions, and he is always willing to do extra jobs to make sure out team base is tidy and ready for the next lesson. I couldn’t ask for anything more Elijah!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.4 ✅

This weeks HoWL average is: 3.1 ✅

Crew Wilson Weekly Review

What a wonderful week we have had in Crew Wilson 😁

We have learned so much throughout our lessons, here are some highlights!

Writing: This week we have been re-telling the story of the 3 little pigs. Our first plot point was all about describing the straw, and what the first little pig thought he could do with it. The Crew have created some fantastic sentences with a little additional support from the teachers, so next week we are focussing on independent writing and producing beautiful work!

Check out some of their work below👇

Theme: We had a great time in our Theme lesson making bird feeders to spread kindness to the local animals around Carcroft. We used toilet roll tubes, string, lard and bird seed to make the bird feeders, and whilst using lard was not anyone’s favourite part of the day (teachers included 🤮), the final products were great and the children know they have made a small difference to help their community.

We have also been making trees to add to our box model village. This involved sculpting chicken wire, wrapping with tape and adding pipe-cleaner branches. We will paper mache and paint next week. The Crew collaborated brilliantly as some people found it trickier than others, working together to overcome barriers and telling each other helpful tips, great team work guys!

Mental Health Day: Today we wore yellow in support of Mental Health Day and undertook some mindful activities that helped the children relate to mental wellness. We discussed what makes us happy when we are sad, had a Sonic themed Yoga Session (Much to Finn’s delight!) and created a handprint rainbow that will be displayed along side the other crews in school.

Check out some of our work below👇

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This Howl goes to Daisy today, as Daisy has shown all of her teachers how hard she has been concentrating in every lesson to create beautiful work. Daisy always aims for Green Standard and is working so hard, keep it up Daisy!

Get Smart: This Howl goes to Debbie-Mae today, as she has demonstrated fantastic listening skills throughout the day and has been on task at all time, well done Debbie-Mae.

Be Kind: This Howl goes to Eva for being a superstar in the classroom. Eva always looks out for her crew mates and encourages people to work hard. Eva is also always kind to her teachers by looking for jobs to do to help out, fantastic work Eva!

Learning Legend: Jake has learned over the past few weeks how to share the air with his crew and is working hard on taking a back seat and letting others lead, which is really kind and compassionate. Keep it up Jake

Howl Average:

We ended the week on a 3.6, 0.2 points higher than last week, so we are on an upward trajectory! The Crew have worked fantastically all week, they definitely deserve to give their brains a rest over the weekend, ready to come back and smash it all again next week.

Well done Crew Wilson, you make me so proud every day!

Crew Nicholson Daily blog 9.10.20

FRIYAY 🙌🏼 Another week in Crew Nicholson that has absolutely flown by! I am so proud how well the children are now settled into school routine, making lovely friendships and I feel a real sense of ‘crew’.

Highlights from today:

Today was ‘World Mental Health Day’ and the children looked fantastic in yellow 💛 We did some rainbow handprints, some yoga and talked about being kind and what that means. We passed around smiles to each other and were getting smart by thinking about different ways we could cheer someone up.

HOWL Hero

Being Kind – Oliver

Oliver was so helpful and helped sweep orange peel (that wasn’t his) off the floor after snack time without being asked. This was a lovely gesture and shows me that Oliver has taken on board what has been said about being kind and used his own initiative to do something kind. Well done Oliver 🌟

Outdoor DIY Makeover

After the children had gone home, the foundation team worked together to start the process of enhancing our outdoor area. (I got to use a drill for the first time ever 😂) The new activities will link perfect with our expedition work where we will be looking at people who help us within our community. I can’t wait for the children to see it on Monday!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and see you all next week ❤️

Crew Fox Blog 9.10.20

Today, we we all dressed in yellow to support World Mental Health Day! In our crew time, we spoke about different types of mental health and what this looks like for different people. Myself, Mrs Rhodes and Mr McCusker are all so proud of how mature children were today, we had a few tears due to people sharing feelings and emotions, and the children were so supportive of each other! Giving each other hugs, trying to make each other laugh and flipping the negatives into positives. This was so heart warming and we all felt like we had become closer, learning more about each other. Today, we really saw and felt what it means to be crew!

Crew Daily Post 09.10.20

Happy Friday People! 🙌

What an exciting day 🤩 it has been today in Crew Elmer today celebrating ‘World Mental Health Day’! ❤

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Our ‘star moment of the day’ was when the children were listing activities that made them ‘feel good’ 😊 It was lovely to hear 👂 the different things that the children do to make them feel ‘happy’ 😁 The children then created their own wellbeing handprints to be displayed on the wall in the hall! Watch this space for the final product! 🤩

Another ‘star moment’ of the day was Esme winning the ‘Golden Ticket’ for most improved handwriting in Crew Elmer this week. Esme tended to write her letters very close together and these would also often be very small. However, this week she has made a conscious effort to ensure that she writes a little bigger and that her letters aren’t so squished together. I wonder if you can keep this up Esme?! We all hope that you enjoyed your ‘cake and shake’ with Miss Laing as we didn’t get to see any evidence of this today! You must know us well that you didn’t even dare to bring your cake into the classroom! 🤣 Meanie! 🤣 Maybe you could vote for me next week Crew Elmer?! 🤣 🍰😛

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.4

WOW! 🤩 I think that this is the highest daily HoWL average that we have had so far! I believe this is down to how hard lots of the children have worked today and also because we almost had a full Crew house! 👍 I wonder… can we keep this up?

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this next week?

Next week, Crew Elmer need to continue to work hard and have a positive attitude towards their learning at all times, as well as remembering to be kind to ALL crew members. I know we can do it Crew Elmer! 👍

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Lily-Beth for our ‘HoWL hero’ today, for ‘working so hard’. Lily-Beth hasn’t been at school this week so it was lovely to see her return today! 😁 She has slotted straight back in with an incredibly positive attitude and worked hard all day! This was fabulous to see and was recognised by us all in Crew Elmer! 👍

Learning legend:

This weeks ‘Learning Legend’ was Sienna! How could it not be this girl this week?! This girl has absolutely worked her socks off this week at trying her best to achieve 4’s in all three HoWLS! She has been focused on her learning in EVERY lesson, even during all of the different activities on Party Day! She always gives 100%, has a positive attitude to her learning and as a result is getting very smart! Her coding skills in computing this week blew me away and how quickly she was able to grasp new concepts. Sienna has also been very helpful in the classroom and has supported her crew members both inside and outside of the classroom, ensuring that they are playing nicely and working hard! This week I cannot fault this girl and I really hope that this continues! Excellent work Superstar Sienna! Well done! 🥇👏👍🙌🤩

Weekly overview:

See below our exciting phase video to sum this week up! 👇

Crew Attendance:

Our latest attendance was 93.51% This means that we are working towards the minimum expected standard (97%) this week!

Crew Shields – 9/10/20

Crew Shields have had a really good week. They have really settled into what each of our expectations should look like in the learning day. I have been blown away by some of the writing produced by the children this week! I have been beyond proud of them and I’m excited to see what they come up with in future writing pieces.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Next week, Crew Shields need to continue working on their pace while completing learning tasks.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is: Maddie

Maddie is always polite and respectful to her peers. She holds doors for her peers and is always willing to include them.

Learning Legend:

Alicia has been a delight to teach since September. She is working hard in all areas of your learning and always has a positive attitude. Alicia has been building her independence during learning activities and is taking on board the feedback. I have started to notice her confidence growing and I look forward to seeing her continue to blossom throughout Year 3. Well done.

Handwriting Hero:

Our handwriting hero for this week is Chloe.

Attendance:

98.13%
This meets the attendance target of 97%.

Don’t forget to be safe

Hi everyone,

Just a quick reminder to not let your children climb on the railings or trees within the school grounds.

Thanks
