Crew Gerrard (13/10/2020)

Hi everyone,

What a fantastic day we have had in Crew Gerrard. We have all worked really hard, tried our very best to listen carefully so that we can get smart and most importantly, we have been really kind to each other. Our HoWL heroes for today were:

Work hard: Brayden🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Hassan 🦸‍♂️

Being kind: Lucas 🦸‍♂️

Our HoWL average today was 3.4. Well done guys, let’s make sure that we keep it up tomorrow!

Crew Kent Blog 13.10.20

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Sophia 👩

Get smart: Crystal 👩

Be kind: Kelby 👩

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.0! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Well done Crew Kent 👍

Crew Marsh: 13/10/20

In Crew Marsh today we had a fab writing lesson! I thoroughly enjoyed reading their sentences. Not only was their sentence quality good but the children did really well at chotting down their ideas. ✏

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.7! 🙌

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.2

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Marsh need to make sure they are not getting out of their seats in learning time and if they need to, to put their hand up.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart hero today is Aaliyah!

Aaliyah has blown me away with how hard she has worked all day! She really has been a superstar and I am so impressed with her! Keep it up Aaliyah!😊

Year 6 Healthy Child Programme

Dear Parent/Carers

The NHS needs to have a good understanding of how children are growing across the country so the best possible health services can be provided for them. As a result, all children in England in Year 6 are offered a height and weight check each year.

If you are happy for your child to have their height and weight screened you do not need to do anything further.

However, should you wish to decline consent, it is your responsibility to  inform the School Nursing team. They can be contacted on 01302 566776, or alternatively you can email them at [email protected]. This must be done by FRIDAY 30TH OCTOBER 2020.

A letter is being sent home to Year 6 pupils with further details.

Thank you

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 12.10.20

Manic Monday! 😊

Today has been very busy in Crew Elmer but we have all had lots of fun and most importantly learnt lots enabling us to ‘get smart’!

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today there have been many moments that I have praised in Crew Elmer… The first one being our ‘experience’ lesson in ‘The Write Stuff’ today. The children got to experience what it was like for a miner working in the coal mines all day! The children had to crawl under tables in the dark, carrying ‘coal’. The children also had a go at doing one of the jobs that the children would of done in the mines including a ‘putter’, a ‘getter’ and a ‘stopper’. The children were great at working in role, even if they did find it tough! They all very much enjoyed their reward which was a chocolate coin! Great experiencing Crew Elmer!

The second moment that blew me away today was our online ‘Parliament workshop’ with some lovely people who were actually IN parliament today! WOW! 🤩 They chatted to us about the different houses, coloured seats, prime minsters, petitions, laws etc. It was very interesting and the children learnt lots! They also aced the quiz at the end! 🙌 Well done Crew Elmer! 👏 You represented our school well! 😊

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.4

WOW! 😁 This is a great score for a Monday and much better than last week’s score so well done! 👏 I wonder if we can keep this up all week and get a spin on the wheel?!….🤞

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to be as FAB as they were today, ALL day! More days like this please Crew Elmer! 🙌

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Well… honestly… Miss Hart has been back for one day and she was asked to have the crew for the afternoon… when it came to chose our HoWL hero she had been away for so long and forgot to only choose one and chose 3! 🤣 Honestly Miss Hart! 14 days off and I leave you for one afternoon! 🤣 Therefore the three HoWL heroes are…

Lacey-Niia for ‘working hard‘ in expedition recording all of your fabulous answers from the meet and greet with our ex-miner last week. You had remembered lots and used your best handwriting to record your sentences. Well done! 👏

Ray for ‘getting super smart’. Ray achieved all 4’s in his HoWLs today and really blew the Crew and Miss Hart away with his knowledge in Maths and Expedition today! Excellent stuff Ray! 🙌

Leo for ‘being kind’. Leo was praised by his crew for his great help throughout our different lessons today! I know this will really cheer Leo up crew as he was feeling a little blue this morning so thank you for that! 😊 And of course well done Leo! Same again tomorrow please!

Attendance Monitoring

The Admin Team and Leaders are still keeping a close eye on attendance. Today was our lowest yet with 7% of pupils missing school today. This does not include anyone isolating due to COVID-19. This was mainly due to colds and not feeling themselves etc. Children have missed so much of their education already due to Covid and unfortunately may still end up missing more this year..

So please ensure that for the time being, you send your child to school even if they have a cold (as long as their temperature is ok..).

It’s important that children only lose 6 days absence due to Non- Covid related absence like we used to say…

We will be sending out the attendance slips next week so you can see which category your child’s attendance is hitting at the minute. Please remember this does not include Covid related absence whereby family members have had to isolate due to being with someone who has tested positive. Thank you to parents for sending in screen shots of test results etc to show that their child is off for a genuine reason linked to Covid.

As a school, we need to be seen to be encouraging good attendance as we would normally and hope that today was just a little blip. I hope to have our attendance back up to where it needs to be tomorrow.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation at this time.
