Our Weekly HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Longley need to continue working hard.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Howl hero today is Kayden

We have been amazed by Kayden’s perseverance today. He has done some tricky maths and writing with a smile and a little grumble! The whole crew agreed he had been amazing today

RWI Reading

Today only 7 of our crew have completed their home reading. Please encourage your child to read their book with you.

Crew Elmer Daily Post 13.10.20

Teambuilding Tuesday! 💡

Today has been a great day in Crew Elmer 😁 despite the miserable weather outside! 🌧

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today there have been many moments that I have praised in Crew Elmer…Including our fabulous writing in ‘The Write Stuff’ where many children deepened the moment by including some similes in their writing. However, the moment that stood out for me the most was the ‘crew building’ skills that children demonstrated during our PE lesson today! The children worked together really well in a short space of time to create some excellent dens! I also praised how all of the dens were different! Great work Crew Elmer! 👍

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

This is slightly lower than yesterday but we are still on track to getting that HoWL weekly average of 3.0 which means a spin on the wheel!

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to remember that even if it is wet play and we have to remain indoors we must still be kind to each other through sharing classroom resources that are for all crew members such as, colouring pencils, pens, paper etc.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today Crew Elmer had to have a vote as none of us could decide between two crew members who we wanted to award our HoWL Hero to (because remember Miss Hart we only choose one a day! 🤣). After a vote (which was very close) we awarded the HoWL Hero to Harry for being super ‘kind’ in Crew Elmer today. He has supported many children with their work today but what stood out to lots of us was how he helped Lacey-Niia write her sentence for her voice over for our kindness video for Green Tops. This was lovely 💕 and very crew 😊. Well done Harry! 🙌

Crew Fox blog 13.10.20

Although we got a little wet on our walk to Carcroft China Cottage, we’ve still managed to keep smiling!

Our HOWL heroes are…

Work hard: Aiden 🦸🏽‍♂️

Get smart: Keya 🦸🏼‍♀️

Be kind: Freya D 🦸🏼‍♀️

⭐️ Our HOWL average today was a super 3.1 ⭐️

Crew Godley Daily Blog 13.10.20

We’ve have had another great day in Crew Godley, even it has been a very wet one🌧 The children have worked so hard to try to achieve ‘Green Standard’ in all areas of their learning today 💚 We are constantly reflecting on what ‘green’ looks like and striving to get there.

Our HoWL heroes constantly demonstrated this standard, whether they were in a crew session, provision or working with an adult. They made me so proud!

The children who achieved this today were:

💚SJ

💚Reggie

💚Roseanne

💚Evelynn

Keep up the great work you little ⭐’s

Highlights of today:

Math’s

We have been focusing on patterns during the last week in Math’s. We made visual representations using concrete materials such as autumn objects and ourselves – we made patterns in quick math’s using ourselves for example sit down, stand up, stand up, sit down. We were able to organise ourselves without any help from adults until it came to checking we were right 😊 We had great fun! The patterns got trickier as we became more confident.

We then used pictures to create our patterns. This was a little bit harder as we had to ensure we kept repeating the pattern as we checked to make sure we were right.

During Quick Math’s today we consolidated what we had learnt during the week to create an abstract pattern using shapes – lines, circles and dashes.

Mark Making

The children have been applying their skills developed in RWI and have been practicing their letter formation. We even had some treasures maps labelled with initial sounds. It is lovely to observe the children becoming independent mark makers.

Fine Motor Skills

The children loved creating their initials with natural materials found in forest school 🌳 This made our little fingers work hard!

The day wouldn’t have been complete without a splash in the puddles outside! We had great fun playing ‘What time is it Mr Wolf?’. We were able to consolidate our counting skills and make sure we worked as a crew to defeat the wolf!

Have a great evening everyone! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings ❤

Tuesday ✔

Highlight of the day

Today in PE the children made dens! There was some amazing designs but most importantly the children used their skills linked to crew that they have learnt over the last 6 weeks.

HOWLs

Todays HOWL score was 3.1

We have noticed that our HOWL score is always lowest on a Tuesday so today in crew circle we thought about how we can change this. Hopefully it will go up next Tuesday 🤞🏻

Todays HOWL heroes were..

🌟 Work hard – Theo

🌟 Get smart – Catalina

🌟 Be kind – Preston

Tuesday✔

Highlight of the day:

We practiced our paper mache skills again today, this time on our trees! We had lots of fun getting stuck up to the eyeballs with glue! We can’t wait to paint our trees tomorrow

Our HOWL heroes are…

Work hard: Kyden 👏

Get smart: Bronwyn 👏

Be kind: Harry 👏

Our HOWL average was 3.1 today. A little lower than yesterday but still great ✨

Crew Boswell – 13.10.20

We’re starting to become more confident when writing and showing more signs of our inner authors.  It was amazing to see so many trying to add a little more of their own ideas into their writing and I hope this carries on through the rest of the sessions!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.4

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 2.8

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can come back fresh tomorrow and act on our pledges from the end of the day.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Work Hard hero today is Ryan!

Ryan has had a superb day today and continues to focus on his learning and what he needs to do to get even better at things.  His writing today was a definite highlight with improving handwriting and pace helping him to get smart too!

Crew Shields – 13/10/20

Crew Shields have absolutely blown me away with their writing today. I can really start to see their imagination shine through and they are starting to magpie ideas from their peers. It is pleasure to read their writing and definitely a part of the day I look forward to.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to become more resilient when completing their learning.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart hero today is Chloe!

Chloe has had a few ‘wow’ moments in writing. It is very clear she is listening to the input which she then weaves her own ideas into. I really enjoy picking up her book to read her writing.

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 13/10/2020

We have had a terrific (and wet!) Tuesday in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the Day:

We have had a very sticky afternoon completing the next phase of our box model village – putting paper mache on our wire trees. Some children found this trickier than others so we had some fantastic collaboration going on, it is great to see our Crew working hard together to produce beautiful work!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This Howl goes to Perrie for always contributing positively to group discussions.

Get Smart: This Howl goes to Tia for using our new maths vocabulary correctly in the lesson, she has really taken this on board and is growing in confidence.

Be Kind: This Howl goes to Finlay for being a Crew Wilson superstar today and helping his friends when they found tasks difficult.

Howl Average:

3.2

We’ve had another dip in our average but I really appreciated the honesty of the children today, they have been very reflective and have actually told me what their target will be for tomorrow. They are really understanding what they need to do to demonstrate our Howl’s and are needing fewer reminders every day, so I am confident this score will soon shoot back up!
