Crew Fox Blog 24.9.20

This morning we opened our doors early because of the rain, yet this afternoon has been glorious!

We had an ‘experience day’ today in Writing, using drama and group work. The vocabulary that we generated was super and we can’t wait to use this in our writing Monday.

During maths, we are now on the unit ‘four operations’.Today, we worked in teams to use equipment to show how subtracting large amounts works!

We have all been really trying to aim for a HOWL score of 3 across Work Hard, Get Smart and Be Kind. Our average was…

Crew Kent Blog 24.9.20

Crew Kent you were amazing today!! You worked tremendously hard in P.E. moving round your circuits doing press ups, squats, sit ups etc. Don’t forget to practice your planks for the plank challenge next week!!!

In writing and math’s you did really well correcting mistakes and improving your work. Lots of time and effort went into improving your presentation today which was really nice to see. Take a look at Grace’s writing from today.

This afternoon children really enjoyed coding on the programme Scratch, working hard on improving their computing skills. Well done today!!

Come rain or shine, our Crew have had an absolutely incredible day with lots of learning and lots of fun especially in Cojo

Highlights of the day:

Crew Flaherty started our day with a wonderful Cojo session in the hall where the children had to work hard in a team. They were so determined to succeed and supported one another tremendously. It was lovely to see.

Crew Flaherty in computing used the programme scratch and all the children were able to change their sprite and backdrop. Although, it wasn’t just their fantastic computing skills which impressed me, it was their enthusiasm towards learning that stood out the most for me.

In English, I was super impressed with how many children wrote a sentence and included the conjunction when to extend their ideas. Keep up the hard work! I can definitely see an improvement in your writing Crew Flaherty. Keep it up!

In maths, it was lovely to see how many children completed their fluency task and supported each other with their working out. Crew Flaherty, you were amazing mathematicians today.

Daily Blog 23.09.20

What a Wonderful Wednesday it has been in class despite the rain pouring outside! 🌧

Star moment of the day:

Today I was really blown away with the children’s sentences in ‘The Write Stuff’ this morning. In today’s lesson the children started to write their own stories about a character who had to move house following the same plot line as the film ‘Inside Out’ that we have looked at in previous weeks. It was great to see the children apply everything that they had learnt about the FANTSTIC lenses as well as some other features including alliteration, similes and the rule of three! Amazing work Crew Elmer! Well done! 🙌 Extra well done to Ray, Harry and Lacey – your work has made it onto the sentence stackers! Yay! 👏

Another ‘star moment’ was how well Crew Elmer performed during our first ever phase assembly today. The children sat well and listening to the other Crews attentively. When it came to presenting our own presentation Crew Elmer did a fab job! You all spoke clearly and what you think ‘working hard’ is came across really well to the other crews. I also think that Miss Laing was impressed with our display! Well done again Crew Elmer! You never stop impressing me! 🤩

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

This is the same as yesterday and just shows how consistent children are being this week in achieving those 3’s and 4’s. Keep this up Crew Elmer! 👍

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are ‘working hard’ at all times. We still need to make sure that we are sat in our seats and that we aren’t interfering in what other children are doing!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Mrs Elmer nominated Ryleigh for ‘working hard’. Ryleigh stepped up when it came to our assembly this afternoon, and despite being reluctant to speak, she took on another child’s part and read the lines loudly, confidently and clearly. We were all super proud of you Ryleigh and how hard you worked to ensure that our assembly was a success! Well done! 😁

Crew Mcloughlin Blog 23/09/20

Firstly I am sorry todays blog is so late, I will make sure I read it with the children in morning Crew as I know they love reading them! As teachers we have been sharing our writing books and celebrating your child’s lovely work with each other! I am very proud of our Crew and this brings up to todays highlight…

Todays Highlight ✨

In The Write Stuff today we have picked up the pace and managed to finish plot point 4. This focused on Riley and her family driving to their new home. We had lots of creative thoughts on how Riley would be feeling and what she would be imaging. We also thought of some amazing sentences on describing what she was noticing in the countryside. This is Noahs paragraph from today and I praise how neatly presented it is and how he has taken pride in his writing. Crew Mcloughlin are definitely building up some great sentence stackers!

HoWL Heroes 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Lewis- Working Hard- Lewis has not needed reminding once today to make sure he is sat up and showing me he is ready to learn and that he is listening. He truly has role modelled what Working Hard should look like today! Lewis has shown a massive skill of critiquing himself in Crew and setting targets to help himself achieve our expected habits of learning. Keep it up Lewis!

Lucia – Get Smart- Out of Lucia’s many skills I definitely think listening is one she is a natural at. She listens to everything I say, follows instructions and is a perfect role model to have in our Crew. By doing this she is focusing attention and getting smart! Your amazing Lucia keep it up!

Noah – Be Kind- Noah constantly looks out for every Crew member and makes us feel happier with his kind words. This morning he noticed someone on his table was unclear of the task and helped to explain it. This is what Crew is all about! As Crew leader I am very proud to have selfless crew members like Noah. Well done!

Daily Blog – 23.09.20

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

A lot of choices for today’s star moment, but I think it had to be during our phase assembly where we talking to the rest of our phase about how we will show that we Work Hard in Crew Boswell.  All but two were nervous about speaking in front of everybody.  During the assembly itself, everybody spoke and I hope everybody feels proud of such an achievement.  It’s a daunting task speaking in front of other people and I think it’s safe to say, we smashed it!  Here’s a little peak at what we created for the assembly.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Another solid score today and some honest reflections on what has been achieved and the HoWLs on show throughout the day.  We have really shown that we can Work Hard and I am thrilled with the positive attitude everyone has had towards their learning as well as their willingness to give things a go.

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, we will be focussing on working quickly.  This will help us to all achieve our expected standard of work which will help us to Get Smart.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Be Kind – Nate!  What a day, Nate!  A clear choice from us all, you have shown kindness and consideration for others throughout the day.  Whether that was the active listening you demonstrated during the assembly in listening to the other crews talking or the superb teamwork during PE that enabled your team to succeed with the challenges they were set.  Well done!

Daily Blog: 23.09.2020

The weather hasn’t stopped Crew Godley from having fun today! ☔️ Jumping in muddle puddles made lots of us smile! As the weather is turning can all parents please ensure children have sensible coats and footwear please, we do go out in all weathers, rain or shine!

The children have been busy exploring number around the classroom today, we enjoyed using the Numberblock and numicon resources to extend our thinking and challenge ourselves. The children were able to make teen numbers by thinking how many ‘tens’ and ‘ones’ they would need. There are some excellent resources on https://www.learningblocks.tv/numberblocks/activities which you can try at home.

The children have all continued to be kind to each other and look after our environment,Shelby, Lydia and Evelynn always make sure everything is in the right place, looking super duper tidy for their peers. You are fantastic role models in Crew Godley.

HOWL Hero

Working hard – Evelynn

Evelynn spent so much time and care on her self portrait and carefully selected materials to improve her work. She thought carefully about the resources she would need to create her desired outcome. Evelynn was so proud that her work would be going up on our display. We can’t wait to share it with you when its completed. Well done Evelynn!

I can’t wait to see some more self portraits tomorrow.

Crew Longley – 23.09.2020

Firstly, apologies for the late blog. I have been busy sharing the children’s books with other teachers tonight and discussing how lovely they are looking.

I would also like to welcome Esme to our crew. Everyone has loved meeting you today and I am sure you will love being part of the crew.

Star moment of the day:

My star moment of the day was watching our crew present their version of WORK HARD in the form of a video. We showed all of the fantastic learning behaviours and added in our own voice overs. It really was a proud teacher moment!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.6 (although it was a rainy day ☔)

Weekly HoWl target: 2.7

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Being ready to learn and show great manners

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s Howls Hero is Alkim. Alkim has been working hard to improve his HOWL score lately and I was so pleased to see his positive attitude helping him to work hard across the morning. He has said he was trying to impress his grown up and has had advice from Ruby S in Crew Shields. I am loving that he is getting advice from a fellow crew!

Well Done Alkim and keep going!
