Another wet but wonderful day in Crew Godley! Those muddy puddles were so inviting this morning we had a great time splashing in them which led to lots of discussions and exploration of the properties of water 💧

Highlights from today:

Some more fantastic mark making capturing our self portraits. We also had some great family portraits which included labels. Shelby drew a lovely picture of her family and labelled herself and Dad as ‘sad’ as they didn’t like the rain. This led into a great Crew discussion  around feelings and what made us happy and sad. We had lots of happy memories to share with each other 💕😊

Get Smart – Grace and Lily-Mae

This Howl goes to Grace and Lily-Mae for always setting a good example during Crew time. The girls are always listening therefore ‘getting smart’ by soaking up all the wonderful information we share together 🏫 They have been setting a perfect example to their Crew and helping others by showing them what to do.

Crew Gerrard blog (24/09/2020)

Hi everyone!

In Crew Gerrard, we have had a brilliant day of learning. We had a really tiring, but fun PE session, when Mr Kent took us through our paces with circuit training. We then returned to make sure that we had cracked our spellings, with our words all ending with suffix -able.

After break, we then went through our writing, to check that we had included everything that we needed to and that our punctuation and grammar in general was accurate. We then completed some more maths tasks, where we made sure that we were comfortable with our learning. The morning ended with some more discussions around our book The Giver.

When we had returned from lunch, we settled down with some reading for pleasure and then came to one of our favourite lessons – computing with Scratch! The children really loved it and even had a challenge to be able to move their characters using the arrow keys, to be able to generate movement. We had such fun.

We then celebrated a really successful and enjoyable day with our Crew circle. As a Crew, we decided on our HoWL heroes, who were:

-Hassan for working hard. His attitude to his learning was fantastic and the pride that he took in himself was really pleasing to see, especially his maths. Well done, Hassan!

-Zane for trying his best in each subject. I was really proud of how Zane was challenging himself, listening to feedback and his effort to really understand his learning in all subjects. You were fantastic Zane, keep it up!

-Jolie for being kind. She really does try to brighten up everyone’s day and I know how much she wants to achieve HoWL certificates. Well done, Jolie!

Our HoWL average today was 3.2. Also, see below Amelia’s beautiful work from her writing and the imagery she created!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 24/09/2020

Another wet but eventful day in Crew Wilson!

As you know, we have been focussing on our ‘Work Hard’ Howl, and today we did a presentation to our Key Stage classes and our school leaders. We made our teachers so proud for how well we could articulate what Working Hard looks like around the school – we know all about collaborating, getting ‘stuck in’, and concentrating on our task! Well done Crew Wilson.

Highlights from today:

Some more fantastic writing in our Write Stuff session. Today we ‘wondered’ about the clouds in the sky, how they might feel to touch and how high they were in the sky.

In maths we continued with counting backwards, and I think we have got this secure now! So much great learning going off in maths, well done guys!

Work Hard – Toby – This Howl goes to Toby for persevering with his writing today, even when he struggled sounding out the new vocabulary we had learned. Well done for keeping at it Toby, you tried so hard today!

Get Smart – Jake – This Howl goes to Jake for trying really hard to ‘share the air’ with his crew which was his personal target from yesterday. Jake has so many fantastic ideas he wants to get them out straight away, but today he has taken a step back and let other people share their thoughts too, well done Jake!

Be Kind – Daisy – This Howl goes to Daisy as she always collaborates with her peers so well. I can always count on Daisy to be encouraging her group to work hard and produce beautiful work, well done Daisy!

What a lovely end to a lovely day, the sun is shining and we’ve had a lovely day in our Crew today.

Highlight of the day

Today, we had our first phase assembly this afternoon. We enjoyed presenting our work hard presentation in front of year 1 and year 2. All the children did an amazing job and we enjoyed watching each other’s presentation. It has been lovely to see the children supporting each other with their presentation skills and sharing their thoughts and ideas about what it means to work hard in our Crew. Well done Crew Flaherty

HOWL heroes

Work Hard

Thomas – for using his phonic knowledge to write a wonderful sentence in English

Get Smart

Jacob – for trying to achieve the expected standard in every lesson.

Be Kind

I wonder who will be our HOWL heroes tomorrow.

Daily Blog – 24.09.20

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

Our star moment came during the discussion in theme about the roles of people who serve our community and just how we are better for them.  There were some considerate answers and it was impressive to hear the range of roles that we are aware of and how they help us.  The fact that our class model was based on our lollipop lady demonstrates their appreciation of the whole range of people who serve our community.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.6

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow we will be working hard to improve our teamwork and supporting each other.  This has been a real strength so far and I’m sure we’ll push on to show what we’re really capable of.  After all, we have last week’s score to make sure that we beat!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Work Hard – Joseph!  A great day for Joseph today.  His positive attitude and love of learning has rubbed off on all of us.  What impressed us even more was his focus on his own learning and how he’s used his own time to practise some of the words that he has found tricky to spell.  Well done, Joseph!

Crew Longley – 24.09.2020

Thrilling Thursday!

Star moment of the day:

My highlight of the day was seeing the children working hard as a team to complete a rather challenging COJO. The children had to work togther to lift a bucket with ropes and move balls around the hall between different buckets. There were definately some interesting and funny moments

.

We have also been making broccoli pizza as part of the Inside Out writing lessons.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.7

Weekly HoWl target: 2.7

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Our big target for tomorrow is to demosntrate a positive learning attitude towards our writing.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s Howls Hero is Esme. Esme has really blown us away with her attitude, especially considering it is her very first full day with us. I have loved seeing Esme working hard in Maths and English and being brave enough to share her thoughts and opinions with her new crew mates.

Well Done Esme!

Daily Blog – 24/9/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

During English today, the children had an experience day which involved making a broccoli pizza. This linked to the Inside Out clip we have been using for writing. They did amazing when it came to trying the pizza especially the broccoli. The children used this experience to start gathering a bank of vocabulary to support them in writing tomorrow.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.4

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Shields need to ensure that they are being kind to the other children in their crew and following instructions.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is: Chloe!!

Chloe is polite and respectful of her peers and she always tries to include her peers. She asks their opinion and listens to what they have to say. She holds the door open for children and always uses her manners. Well done Chloe.

Reminder….

Please can I remind you that if you, your child or any member of your household is awaiting a test result, your child can not come to school.
If you are unsure please refer to the flow chart below or government guidance.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Weekly HoWl target: 3.0

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Listening to instructions and following them the first time. We still all have not mastered this and I know we can!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

This week we are concentrating on working hard, as if you work hard, you get smart!

Our work hard hero today is: Harlie

Harlie has extra hard to catch up on her learning, even though she missed the planning section of writing her positive attitude has meant she has still been successful and met gold standard. Well done Harlie! 😊👌
