Crew Kent Blog 22.9.20

Brilliant day Crew Kent!! Really well done today. Fantastic input this morning creating our product for our assembly. People were very nervous about talking on film but everyone managed to join in and contribute so very well done. Writing today was really good, so many good ideas flowing around the room with words like colossal and majestic being used as well as children having a go at using personification. You guys also showed great resilience in math’s today with rounding again. Always a tricky subject that many people don’t get the first time so we continue again with that tomorrow. In the afternoon we looked at old pictures of Carcroft and used our local knowledge to compare and contrast how the area had developed over time. We noticed lots of interesting details about different buildings and roads that we can still see today. Finally our UKS2 crew time let us show off our presentation. It was amazing to get so much praise from other crews and also to see what work they had been done.

What an amazing day!!! 👍

Howl heroes for today – Work Hard = Grace, Get Smart = Roxanne and Being Kind = Lexie

Howl Score = 3.2

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 22/09/2020

Tuesday is done, and what a fantastic day we have had!

Crew Wilson discussed collaboration today as part of ‘Be Kind’ HOWL, we talked about what it would look like in the classroom and why it is kind to collaborate and we decided that two brains are better than one, so by collaborating you are joining your brain power together! I have observed some fabulous collaboration today across all our lessons, well done Crew Wilson!

Highlights from today:

Maths: Today we produced beautiful work in our Maths books, carefully taking our time with our answers so that there were no mistakes and everything looked perfect!

Theme: Our box model village is continuing to grow. Today we added a layer of paper mache to our models so they become sturdier and we can paint them in our next lesson. We were great at sharing resources, helping each other when we got a bit stuck, and we especially enjoyed peeling PVA glue off of our hands at the end!

Howl Heroes

Work Hard – Today’s Work Hard Howl goes to Freddie! Freddie finds it hard to join in with our Crew sometimes, but today he has gone above and beyond in every single lesson! He has been a superstar at break and dinner times and has worked so well in his groups today. Keep up the good work Freddie!

Get Smart – Today’s Get Smart Howl goes to Finlay! Finlay has really taken his time to ensure all the work he has produced today is beautiful. In our Writing lesson, Finlay didn’t just do one sentence like he was asked, he did two! Finn tries so hard to meet our Great Green Standard in every lesson, such a role model, well done Finlay!

Be Kind – Todays Be Kind Howl goes to Eva!  I can always rely on Eva to be the first child with her hand up to answer a question, she is always showing me that she is ‘ready’ to learn, and is so empathetic to her friends needs – Eva embodies ‘Being Kind’ in every minute of the school day, keep up the great work Eva!

Howl Daily Total: 87!

Daily Blog – 22/9/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

This afternoon, Crew Shields worked hard to follow some tutorials to enable them to create an algorithm in computing. They demonstrated a great crew attitude by sharing, taking turn and communicating with each other. All of the children were able to follow the instructions to complete a number of challenges.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Shields need to ensure that they are encouraging their peers by using a positive attitude.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our work hard hero today is: Reece!!

Reece has been making a conscious effort this wee to ensure that he is building up his independence. This has really shown in Reading and Maths when Reece completed all his learning without any prompting from staff. He has took his time to ensure he answered the questions accurately. Well done.

Tuesday ✔

Another fantastic day in Crew Welburn! We’ve had lots of celebrations, smiles and laughing today which has been lovely to see and hear in the classroom 😊

Highlights from today:

Writing:

We all had a go at writing a sentence today, and some of us were even brave enough to move into our writing books! This is fantastic and I am so proud of all of the children for their hard work and positive attitude in the writing lessons.

Theme:

We learnt how to paper mache today in theme! We needed to make our models stronger and matt so that they are easier to paint. We had to work as a crew to help each other hold down the first pieces of newspaper so that they didn’t stick to our fingers!

Our HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard: I chose Kyden as our work hard hero today as he has listened carefully to the adults’ instructions both in and out of the classroom, and being helpful by doing lots of extra jobs around the class today. Keep this up Kyden!

Get Smart: Harrylee had to have our get smart award today as he tried so hard with his handwriting and was really resilient when writing the letter ‘t’.

Be Kind: Charlie was my be kind hero today as from the minute I stepped through the door, he had a big smile on his face and has made me laugh and smile all day!

HOWL average: 3.4 wahoo Crew Welburn! This is amazing 👏🙌

Monday ✅

Another fantastic day full of happiness and laughter 😊 The weather has been on our side today so we have taken full advantage and used the outdoors to extend our learning.

Highlights from today:

Mini Kicks: Working as a crew to use the race track safely! The children loved pretending to be cars 🚗 whilst developing the gross motor skills, spatial awareness and listening skills.
This is a great gameyou could try at home – the children move around a parent to be a car 🚙 On the call of:

1 – The children drive slowly (walk)

2 – Speed up a little (skip)

3 – Speed up a little more (run)

4 – Reverse (walk backwards)

5 – Park your car (stand in a hoop)

We has a great time being Lightening McQueen!

Daily Mile: The children are really enjoying their daily mile. We move around the mugs pitch in various ways. The children took the lead today and were able to lead their crew independently 😊

Forest School: We explores numbers in the forest 🌳 today. We counted objects and sorted them accordingly. We then recorded numbers in the mud using sticks. We had very muddy fun 🌲🌳🌿

Crew Longley 21.09.2020

Happy Monday! 🌞

It has been lovely catching up with the children and hearing about the weekend adventures in aquariums, Blackpool, zoos and escaping roaring lions!🦁 (although perhaps a little artistic licence applied 😀)

Star moment of the day:

Today I was super impressed with how hard the children worked in our Jigsaw Crew Session. We worked as crew to develop a learning charter for working hard as a group. The children came up with their protocols. We then put these to the test by working in teams to create a Carrot Car. It was fantastic to see the children fully engaged a working collaboratively to build a car, in just 10 minutes, that could travel 2m. I’m sure you’ll agree they are fantastic. 🥕🏎

We then worked to further embed these group skills across our maths and PE lessons. Working together in Maths definitely helped make the learning easier.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.7✅

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.7

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Longley need to make sure that we are consistently ‘working hard’ in all parts of the lesson, especially as part of a group.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Longley’s Howl Hero for today is Ava K. She has really shown a determination to work hard today and I have loved watching her try, work as a group and work independently. Ava has really shown a positive attitude towards her learning and I have been so proud of this today. Well done! 👍👏

Today’s Blog – 21.09.20

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

Our star moment of the day today is the way in which we circle up.  We’ve been practising this new routine over these first few weeks and it’s great to see leaders stepping up to ensure that all voices are heard and that everyone has chance to say how they’re feeling and why, especially those who are feeling as ready to learn as the rest.  What a great crew spirit!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our best start to the week so far and I think that now we’re becoming used to the routines and timetable, we’re starting to show more of what we’re capable of and push ourselves that little bit further.

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Some of us struggle with some of the lessons and that’s ok.  The easy HoWL to continue to improve is Be Kind as we can all look after our equipment and we can certainly carry on our kindness and consideration beyond circling up.  That’s where we’ll all look to improve tomorrow and I think we’re all capable of hitting that ‘4’ at the end of the day for Be Kind!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Work Hard – Tia!  Tia continues to become more positive about her work and refuses to give up when something doesn’t come easily or straight away.  Her perseverance and concentration has produced some great maths work today and I’m sure she’ll continue to push on throughout the rest of the week!  You’ve been a great role model to us all today, well done!
