Crew Gerrard blog (23/09/2020)

Hi everyone!

We started the day with a Crew circle, seeing how everyone was feeling. We then had the important debate of whether pineapple belongs on pizza or not. Opinion was split!

Later in the morning, during maths, Crew Gerrard made another step forward to work hard and get smart with rounding. I can see that we’re feeling more confident with it. We then went to practice some spellings, too.

We did manage to get out for a bit of fresh air, which helped us really concentrate on our writing and finish off chunk 3 of plot point 3 (paragraph 3). I am loving reading them and can’t wait to share some of our writing. After this, we continued to work hard, so that we could really understand our book The Giver.

Even though it was a wet lunch, we didn’t let that dampen our spirits, with many playing games, colouring or watching a bit of Disney Plus.

After filling our bellies, we then went to burn off some energy in PE, with lots of fun relay type races. We then completed our final bit of expedition work, by writing down what we noticed from the pictures of old Carcroft and Carcroft nowadays. It was great to see a range of changes over time. We ended the day with a check out circle and seeing how our day went. We know what we did really well and came up with a couple of ideas of where we could improve and make our day better.

Our HoWL heroes for today were:

-Kian for working hard on rounding. It was not always easy, but Kian worked hard and persevered to become a rounding whizz and work independently. I was really proud of your determination Kian!

-Amelia for getting smart in her writing. She wrote a really vivid description of a drive though mountains and I could picture myself there. There will be pictures to follow. Well done Amelia!

-Ruby for being kind. She’s kind all the time, but was amazing with her listening and helping others with their work. What a Crew member you are Ruby!

Our HoWL average was 2.9 for today.

Have a great evening!

Mr G 😊

The weather hasn’t stopped Crew Nicholson from having fun and learning today! ☔️

The children have practised turn taking and sharing playing dotty dinosaurs, which is something that isn’t always easy to do. This will help us to develop ‘crew’ and build on our social development. This was also a great opportunity to learn colours, shapes and numbers 🙌🏼🌟

I have been blown away by the children’s mark making skills today as we created some lovely self portraits. The children were able to articulate some fantastic descriptions of themselves too, such as ‘I’m drawing my hair like this because it’s windy’ and ‘I’ve got a big smiley face’ 🥰

HOWL Hero

The children have all continued to be kind to each other and I have noticed how we are using our manners consistently now so this is great! We just need to work a little bit harder on our listening skills tomorrow whilst we are on the carpet.  👂🏼

Working hard – Rose

Rose spent so much time and care on her self portrait and carefully selected materials to improve her work. She was shown by an adult how to do what she wanted and then did the work all by herself! Well done Rose!

Crew Fox Blog 23.9.20

Where has the sun gone? 🙁

We have still managed to be positive today even without the glorious sunshine. Go Crew Fox! Myself, Mrs Rhodes and Mr McCusker have said this morning has been one of the most focused mornings that we have had since the beginning of September.

During English sessions, we have finished plot point 5…

Star has used some great vocabulary today.

We’ve continued to read chapter 3 of The Giver and are learning more and more about Jonas and his community. Can you summarise to your adults at home what we have learned about the characters so far?

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 23/09/2020

Working Hard Wednesday completed- It’s been a wet but jam-packed day!

Today we have been looking in depth about what ‘Working Hard‘ looks like around school, and Crew Wilson have really taken this on board! They have been showing me how they can work hard in the different areas of the classroom all day!

Highlights from today:

Maths: We have been learning to count ‘one less’ using a variety of resources, we really enjoyed playing bus drivers and counting the total number of passengers on the bus. Shout out to Tia for leading her group independently!

Theme: Our box model village has had it’s final coat of paper mache and we are ready for painting. I witnessed some fantastic collaboration in this lesson between so many of our Crew – as we had a time limit, some children rushed to the aid of their peers to help them finish in time, great work guys!

Howl Heroes

Work Hard – This Howl goes to Stevie for her brilliant effort in our writing lessons. Stevie really concentrated hard on her task and produced some beautiful work as a result, well done Stevie!

Get Smart – This Howl goes to Mia for listening carefully to instructions and keeping her group on task at all times – Mia is a teacher in the making!

Be Kind – This Howl goes to Perrie, as she always considers the needs of others before herself. Perrie was willing to sacrifice her box model being finished so she could help someone else finish theirs. Luckily there was time for both to be completed, but that was such a kind thing to do, well done Perrie!

Howl Daily Total: 56!

WH – 26

GS – 11

BK – 19

211/200 – Well done Crew Wilson, our target is smashed and we’re only halfway through the week! Keep up the fantastic work!

Daily Blog – 23/9/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

In phase assembly, I was extremely proud of the children that spoke in assembly this afternoon. They were asked to explain what work hard looks like in Crew Shields and they did this in a loud, clear voice. It was lovely to see their confidence with speaking in front of other children.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.7

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Shields need to ensure that they are listening to and following instructions to ensure they know what they are doing in their learning.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is: Alicia!!

Alicia is a well mannered and polite girl who is always willing to help her peers. She includes her friends and listens to them when they are contributing to class discussions. It has been lovely seeing Alicia develop new friends in Crew Shields which is down to her kindness to others. Well done Alicia.

Crew Kent Blog 23.9.20

Really good day Crew Kent!! I was not in today but I have had great feedback from the staff that covered me today. In math’s children continued their rounding of 10’s, 100’s and 1,000’s even learning a catchy song. After break children continued with their writing with some very imaginative pieces being developed and I cannot wait to see completed tomorrow. In the afternoon children had P.E. out in the wet but they battled through and thoroughly enjoyed their session. Well done Crew Kent for showing all the other staff members how well we behave as a crew and the hard work we do in all lessons.

Howl heroes – Work Hard = Kelby, Get Smart = Deacon and Be Kind = Olivia

Howl average today = 3.3

Wednesday✔

Wow! What a great day we have had! We’ve worked really well together as a crew today which was great to see 😊

Highlights from today:

Maths:

We have been looking at 1 less in maths today which was really tricky but we didn’t give up! We tried looking at in in lots of different ways, but our favourite was sitting on a bus and ringing the bell for one person to get off each time. This really helped us to visualize 1 less. We also used playing cards to find 1 less of a number within 10. We did boys v’s girls for the fastest finger first!

Our HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard: Bronwyn has worked so hard with her writing today so she had to be the HOWL hero! She made sure her work was beautiful by carefully forming her letters, and worked hard to contribute ideas to the crew discussion.

Get Smart: Kairen was nominated by Kyden in our crew today for get smart. Kyden wanted to nominate Kairen as he always does the right thing and tries really hard in lessons to do the tasks.

Be Kind: Harry was really kind today in our DT lesson. He made sure that once he had finished his paper mache on his model, that he helped his friends to get theirs finished. This was brilliant teamwork!

HOWL average: 3.2. Well done crew Welburn! 👏🙌

Daily blog: 23/09/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

My star moment of the day was when in crew we all shared our “I praise….” about each other, this made me feel really happy hearing the kind things the crew had to say to each other. 💕

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.5 😢

Weekly HoWl target: 3.0

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Listening to instructions and following them the first time.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

This week we are concentrating on working hard, as if you work hard, you get smart!

Because the children were late out, I did not have time to share the HoWL Hero with them…..

Our work hard hero today is: TommyB

Tommy has tried extra hard today to make sure he has been working hard every lesson, he has shown me his listening and ensured that his work looks beautiful!

Well done Tommy!😊

Crew Thiede 22.9.20

Hi everyone! We have had a busy day in Crew Thiede today.

Highlight of the day
The children enjoyed drawing maps of our walk to Coffee Corner, including the human and physical
features that we saw on the walk. They also had a go at making their own compass and were great at remembering North, East, South and West.🙂

HOWLs

Our CREW average for the day 3.2 today ⬇️

Our crew average was a little bit lower today, how can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow we need to focus on following instructions carefully. Following instructions is really important to make sure that we are working hard. Working hard = getting smart!

Our HOWL heroes were:
Work Hard
🌟Taylor – For focussing on her work all of the time.
Get Smart
🌟Ellie – For contributing fantastic ideas in every lesson and producing beautiful work again all day.
Be Kind
🌟 Preston – For being kind to others and always respecting his equipment and books.

Parent Feedback

Thank you to the 3 parents who have completed our survey. It’s great to receive some positive feedback but also some feedback to help us to gauge what parents are thinking in terms of what we need to improve. Next week, Leaders will look at the feedback and will work with their staff to put any issues right.

I would be really grateful if a few more parents could complete the survey. It’s really short, just two questions, it will only take a couple of minutes but will help us to make our school better.

Thank you,

Miss Laing
