Ofsted Interim/Covid Visit

I am writing to inform you that tomorrow, Thursday 1st October, Carcroft Primary School will be visited by two Ofsted Inspectors. I have taken this from the Government website which explains the rationale behind the visit.

Ofsted aims to tell parents, government and the public about how schools are managing the return to full education of their pupils, the majority of whom have not been in school for more than 5 months due to the impact of COVID-19. The visits, initially announced in July, will include schools of different types and of all Ofsted grades across England. Visits will be based around constructive discussions with the school or college leaders; they are not inspections, so will not result in a grade.

We will notify a school of the visit on the day before and talk about the practicalities of the visit – including any specific considerations related to COVID-19. Normally, 2 inspectors will visit a school for 1 day, when they will have collaborative conversations with school leaders.

On the visit, they will talk about any barriers that the school is facing in managing the return to opening fully, how pupils are getting back into expected routines and their behaviour, and the school’s safeguarding arrangements. Inspectors will also talk to school leaders about how remote learning fits into their wider curriculum plans. After a visit, the inspector will write a short letter, which will be published on our reports website.

The full link is here if you wish to read further. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/ofsted-visits-to-schools-and-colleges-to-begin-this-month

The inspectors will not be visiting lessons, they will be meeting with myself, Miss Whitehead and Mr Tucker to discuss the areas outlined above. I feel that this will be an opportunity to showcase how amazing the Carcroft Community has been during the Pandemic and how we have worked in partnership in order to transition our pupils back successfully after 5 months of many not being in school; I am so proud. ☺️

The letter will be sent out to parents within 2 weeks of the visit and will be posted on the website. 😊

Crew Thiede 30.9.20

Hello everyone!

Another busy day done in Crew Thiede 👍🏻

Highlight of the day

We started our day off with a cojo challenge where we worked on our speaking and listening skills.

In maths we continued on our work with comparing numbers using ten and one frames and our mathematical symbols.

During the Write Stuff we explored the stars and imagined what our dream playground would look like.

In the afternoon we worked on our computing skills.

HOWLs

Today’s HOWL score was 3. This means that our score has dropped again. Although this isn’t the way that we want to go, the children were very honest about their personal scores which is a real positive.

Tomorrow our crew average score goal is 3.2.

Our HOWL heroes today were…

Work hard

🌟 Harry for his hard work throughout the day and trying his very best in all his learning

Get smart

🌟 Jake for using his equipment to help with his maths learning

Be kind

🌟 Talia for supporting her friends and encouraging them to be their best

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 30.09.20

What a Wonderful Wednesday it has been up in Crew Elmer today! 🌟

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today I praise how well Crew Elmer worked as mini crews in our PE lesson today. The children demonstrated just how kind they can be through sharing the ball, including everyone in the game, ensuring that everyone gets a go, passing the ball and moving around safely, using their manners and ultimately making sure that everyone is happy! 😃 It was a great session and afterwards both Miss Hart and I shared how successful we thought the lesson has been! Excellent work Crew Elmer! 👏

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

This is a little dip from yesterday’s HoWL score but as a group we discussed this and felt that it was due to two crew members being absent and a few children being unkind when it came to holding doors open for each other. We have addressed this issue and hope that tomorrow our score improves. 🤞

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are continuing to ‘be kind’ at all times especially when moving around school. We need to be in our line order at all times and ensure that we pass the door along or hold it open for the next person. Sounds obvious but some of us have been forgetting to do this! 🤦‍♀️

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Ryleigh for her exceptional hard work in PE today! Her attacking and defending skills were out of this world! 🌎 We know that Ryleigh enjoys football out of school but it was great to see her working hard to apply these skills to a new challenge in PE today. Lots of children praised this and it was also recognised by myself and Miss Hart. Amazing stuff Ryleigh! Well done! I wonder if next time you could teach some of your ‘mini crew’ in using some of these skills to make your whole crew as successfully as you had been in today’s lesson? 🧐

Crew Godley Daily Blog: 30.09.20

Good evening everyone,

We have had another fantastic learning day down in the foundation unit today. The children are really embracing the “crew” ethos and are developing some lovely friendships. 😁

We have been looking very closely at why each of us are special. We have discussed what makes us unique and how we differ from one another, as well as talking about how we can use these differences to support one another in the classroom. Shania was excited to share she was special because she could balance really well on the trim trail. We spoke about how she could support her “crew” by modeling this great skill to them whilst outside.

We then used these discussions to complete self portraits for our classroom crew display. 🎨The children were really excited to see their learning on the classroom wall for any visitors to see. 👩👦

Wednesday ✅ This morning in crew time we practiced our speaking and listening skills, talking about something we are good at. After establishing we are all good at playing with toys and some scaffolding, we thought deeper about things we are good at that we might not realise. The children articulated some lovely answers such as riding a bike, growing vegetables and counting. We are really working hard at listening to our crew when we are talking, it is really tricky to do sometimes as we are all desperate to share our ideas! 🙊

Today we received a rather unusual delivery for our snack – Raddishes! After some encouragement, the children pretended to be Peter Rabbit and gave them a try! I was so proud of the children for trying them, see below for some funny faces 🥴🥴 It is always good to try new things, as the saying goes ‘how do you know you don’t like something if you don’t try?’

Crew Marsh: 30/09/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

Crew is at the heart of everything we do, in PE it was great to see the children working together as a crew and being able to start to learn that winning isn’t everything and it is the taking part and fun that counts.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Weekly HoWl target: 3.0

How can we improve this tomorrow?

By making sure as a crew we are working hard and listening to instructions.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

This week we are concentrating on being kind.

Our being kind hero today is: Jake

Jake is always kind to his peers and to adults in the classroom, he makes sure that he is always listening and is a real credit to Crew Marsh.

Well done Jake!

Crew Boswell – 30.09.20

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

Our star moment today was the teamwork on show during our PE session; a recurring theme it seems!  Couple with the reflection on their own performance, it was a session to be proud of for all.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

Our weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

I wonder if…

I wonder if everyone remembers to wear something colourful tomorrow for our party and we can continue to show everyone what an amazing crew we are!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Work Hard – Ryan!  Ryan has had an amazing day today.  He continues to show his positive attitude towards his learning and has built on this by refusing to give up when things are more challenging, instead facing each challenge with greater determination and focus.  Keep going, Ryan, we will all try to copy you on Friday!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 30/09/2020

What a wonderful Wednesday we’ve had in Crew Wilson.

We started off this morning continuing with our discussions around Being Kind, then some volunteers got to meet a special visitor and share what we have been learning – the children could articulate themselves very well, explaining in detail what we have done since we returned to school in September, but also why we were learning it and they have made their teachers very proud!

Highlights of the Day:

Maths: Using the Very Hungry Caterpillar to support 1:1 correspondence. The children couldn’t believe just how much the Caterpillar ate in one day! We are getting secure with representing numbers by objects and have definitely enjoyed exploring it a little more today.

PE: Today we played Cops and Robbers, where the children split into teams and had to strategise how they were going to ‘steal’ the other groups swag and get it back to their base – but there were several rules that made it a harder. It was great to see them working out the best methods, practising and adapting them. The girls communicated fantastically and managed to beat the boys 5 times in a row! Next week we will continue with this game and see if the boys manage to beat the girls, the battle lines have been drawn and it is ON!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This Howl goes to Freddie, for taking part in all of our crew and learning sessions today. Freddie’s attitude to learning has become so positive since returning to school and it is great to see our Crew celebrating his successes and cheering him on – we are all so proud, keep it up Freddie!

Get Smart: This Howl goes to Keira-Leigh for her fantastic people management skills in PE – the girls owe their wins to Keira-Leigh’s quick-thinking and direct instruction, there were no weak links in this group as Keira-Leigh made sure everyone knew what their job was and how to do it. Fantastic work Keira-Leigh!

Be Kind: This Howl goes to Aleks, as he has formed some lovely relationships with his friends and is so considerate of other children’s needs. Aleks always helps others both on the playground and in the classroom, and it’s great to see him developing friendships within our lovely crew, keep it up Aleks 🙂

Crew Gerrard 30/09/2020

Today we have had a great day and it has been difficult to decide who to choose as our HoWL heroes. They are:

Work hard: Hassan 🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Emily 🦸‍♂️

Being kind: Zane 🦸‍♂️

Our HoWL average for today was 3.1, which means that it stayed the same as yesterday, so are really pleased for that and are aiming for more tomorrow.

Well done Crew Gerrard 😄
