In our last Scotties session, the children had the opportunity to learn how to use a flint and steel in order to start a fire in the case of needing to survive. The children shower great perseverance in getting the flint and steel to create a spark.

It’s been a fun afternoon for Crew Shields as the children were able to have to use the forest school for Lazer tag. It was great to see the children use different strategies to prevent themselves from getting tagged.
Today’s French lesson was filled with fun, as we matched pictures of delicious fruits with their French names! From ‘pomme’ to ‘banane’ we practiced pronunciation and made connections through colourful visuals.
In expedition, we started our new DT case study by looking at seasonal food and seasonality. We started off by discussing the four different seasons and then we sorted the items into each season. We then looked at which seasons food grew best in. We sorted the pictures based on the seasonality food chart. We found this really interesting and how some fruits and vegetables are in season all year round. We also found it interesting that in winter, less fruit and vegetables are in season.
Now that Crew Hamill have completed their final paintings of Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks, we have used a Padlet to share out paintings with the rest of the crew and add some critique. We have remembered to be kind, specific and helpful and to ensure we critique the piece and not the person.
Crew Hamill loved their Scotty’s session today in which they were learning how to successfully use a flint and steel to create a fire. Did you know, if you use vaseline on your cotton pad, it will stay alight longer and your flame will be larger?
We have loved our visit from Y5 children today to read us our stories!
Today, we had to run through an obstacle course where every challenge was unlocked by a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors! We had to defeat obstacles (us!) with the right move, and sprint to the finish. Strategy, speed, and quick thinking led the children to victory – it was such great fun and lots of positive sportsmanship observed!
In our book talk and demo comp lesson this week, we have focussed on a range of comprehension skills. We have used a variety of different lenses such as, trawling for evidence, inference and language. We worked really hard to explain why and use evidence from the text.
The children have been working super hard on their writing skills. Now in a morning they write their names, numbers to 10, and now affirmation sentences. They have been amazing at recalling the properties of a sentence such as adding a full stop at the end. Well done crew F2.
